2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    "OCTOBER"---U2 (1981)

    How MTV saved my life.....

'Gloria' is one of the first videos I ever saw on MTV; I had not previously heard of U2, and I was amazed at the combination of subtlety and power, and I wanted to hear more. I bought "October" and the debut album, "Boy". To me, this was different, and it was GOOD.

"October" is both simple and complex; not very well-received when it was first released, the next album, "War" brought it more rearguard attention and eventually it sold nearly 2 million copies. The album is chock full of great stuff, 'I Threw A Brick Through A Window', 'Rejoice', 'I Fall Down', 'With A Shout', 'Stranger In A Strange Land' and 'Is That All', with 'Gloria', round out the great tracks.

'Fire', 'Tomorrow', the title track, are good, just not on the same level with the others.

Not bad for an album concerned with spirituality and God.

    "Downtown"---Petula Clark (1964)

Virtually unknown in the United States, Petula Clark had started her career singing on BBC radio during World War II by the age of 10. She was cast as a juvenile in several films from the mid-1940s to early 1950s, including
Here Come The Huggetts. By the early 1950s, she had a record career in full swing, scoring a number of hits in Great Britain and expanding her career in France in the late 1950s and early 1960s (including the 1962 French #1 hit, "Chariot", which was adapted for Little Peggy March in 1963 as "I Will Follow Him"). However, by 1961, her recording career in the U.K. appeared to be finished as she had several flops in a row.

Enter Tony Hatch, who offered Clark a song he originally had had in mind for The Drifters----"Downtown", which, within months was a smash international hit.

In the United States, introduced and billed as "The Singing Housewife" (she was 31 years old), as though the stage was something new to her, Clark's rendition of "Downtown" was the first of sixteen Top 40 Billboard Single hits.

    "Born To Be Wild"---Steppenwolf (1968)

I can still remember getting my hands on a copy of this single as a little tyke and playing it over and over and over and over again on a little plastic record player.

My parents probably thought I was the spawn of the devil or something.....

    "Eloise"---Barry Ryan (1968)

Remembering my little tale about the Steppenwolf single above reminded me of this song; another single that was around then that I loved and played quite a bit as a little kid on that same plastic record player.

What I did not know, and just found out, is that this song, which was a total dud on the charts in the U.S. (who HERE has heard of it) reached #2 in the U.K. and hit #1 in SEVENTEEN countries around the world---a major international smash. I had no idea.

Oh.......I still have that old scratchy single.

    NUMBER 135:

    "JOHN WESLEY HARDING"---BOB DYLAN (1967)

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and here is mine: "John Wesley Harding" is far and away the best album ever made by Bob Dylan.

I don't really think there has been a really bad album by Dylan, but with the massive amount of material he has produced, about half is only 'OK' and about another quarter is only good. There are about a dozen really good Dylan albums, some that contain several classic cuts. However, being honest, Dylan is so full of himself that even his best tracks can be somewhat over the top in allegory, illusion and mystery.

Where he gets it done best is on "John Wesley Harding", where he restrains himself lyrically, keeps both his stories and motifs relatively brief; he tells his tales more simply and more directly and moves on to the next without adding 16 more verses. "Harding" is also musically his most mature to date, containing a number of exceptional tunes that stretch beyond his typical three-chord progressions and monotone, set as background to his lyrics.

The title cut is brilliant. So is 'All Along The Watchtower'; 'As I Walked Out One Morning' and 'I Dreamed I Saw St. Augustine' and 'The Wicked Messenger' are lesser known, but they are, from every angle, great.

I first heard this album in 1970, when I was still little, and the first song I heard was 'The Ballad Of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest' and it is still, like a tattoo, etched on my soul forever. It is the most simple round on the album, which in a way, runs counter to what I've said above, but sue me. To others, it might mean nothing, but to me, this IS Bob Dylan. I adore it.

'I Pity The Poor Immigrant', 'Down Along The Cove' and 'I'll Be Your Baby Tonight' are all very good, in three different styles, a mournful ballad, a lilting shuffle and a medium-tempo country crooner.

'Drifter's Escape', 'Dear Landlord', 'I Am A Lonesome Hobo' are good, but just not up to the level of the other nine album cuts.

This album is so good, it helps me forgive Dylan for his typical pretentiousness.

Man, if I'd have had just 5 minutes with Diana Dors in the 1950s, I'd have needed 5 days!

I love Dylan's songs and his ability to thumb his nose at the establishment. Such a pity he is part of the establishment.
