As i said from the question, in your own mind how do you feel about yourself... Buddism, cultures and choice etc are all things that would influence a change in your own perception for the meaning of 'good'.

It's a question many people seek an answer too (not for the same reason i have listed) because it is alot to do with upbringing and the way your mind has developed.

I've always been interested in how the brain works and how influential seemingly small things can affect the mind.

 

depending on who you ask it seems you will get different answers to what a good person means....

to me it means not cheating or stealing or lying. I honor the law 99% of the time, unless im speeding.

I give back to people and my community and am overly generous with my money towards my friends.

I also follow my faith

 

over all yes, I have had my bad days, but I try to live a good life as an example for my kids

 

I try to do the right thing, and I obsess until I've made amends when I've screwed up. So yeah, I consider myself a good person.

 

No, and I'm not worried about others disagreeing.

I've been told I'm actually a really good person, but those who've known me for a while know I just want constant attention and I'll go to the ends of the Earth to get it.

 

I can be very selfish, self absorbed, and I often wonder just how often or far I would go out of my way to do something selfless for people I care about.
Usually factoring in how much others have done for me I could never really be a good person. Especially in comparison of some people I know, but it does inspire me at times to try and keep a perspective about a larger picture that helps avoid being too much of a bastard if I can help it. Even when I just feel like saying fuck it and being an animal. Usually just takes some time step back, get a nights sleep and not think it over too much it for a while hindsight is always 20/20.
Might not be a good person, but I don't go out of my way to be a bad one probably would be much better off if I figured that out when I was younger.

 

Are any of us....I mean we have all done or said things in past, be it good or bad.... everyone has their up's and downs....,in my eyes it's called LIFE.

 

A good person loves. i have bad intensions for people who surround me, im a cynic and a liar, and to quote batman "Some men just want to see the world burn". But those who surround me see an outer shell, to them I'm a charismatic, accepting, productive member of society. It does bother me that I'm this way, my actions have ramifications on my conscious. But I feel that because I'm self aware of my issues and would like to be different I can work to better myself, after all, a good person loves.

So to answer your question blaintly, no, my own self conscious considers himself a bad person.

Stop feeling sorry for yourself. It's starting to make me feel sick. No wonder you can't get employment. Your 'woe is me!' attitude must hang round you like a bad aura.

As for me, I'm good to myself and I'm having the time of my life....

Not to be rude but do you have faith or do you just follow a religion?

Right now i goto church as my wife is a christian but i don't actually believe in it i do it to give the kids the option in the future to make thier own minds up. By the sounds of others in the church i may 'find' faith but. Don't really get it.

I will not discuss this in open forum but if you want to discuss it drop me a note. Before you jump to one conclusion I am no Christian basher nor am I a holier than thou do gooder.

I have faith and I follow my faith. If you truly are following your faith you would have faith to me, it seems.

I found my faith as you put it when I was in 9th grade. I have struggled with my faith and following of God's teaching since than. I am not perfect and don't ever try to think I am.

I feel I am a good person, but I try not to be too "nice", it's easier to function in this world. Nice people get "run over". But I would never want to hurt other people on purpose for my benefit... I just can't.
