1. Term Limits
12 years only, one of the possible options below'

A. Two 6 year Senate terms
B. Six 2 year House terms
C. One 6 year Senate term and three 2 year House terms

2. No tenure/ No pension
A Congressman collects a salary while in office and collects none while they are out of office.

3. Congress (past, present, and future) participates in Social Security.
All funds in the Congressional pension fund are moved to Social Security immediately, all future funds flow into the Social Security System, and Congress participates with the American people.

4. Congress can purchase there own retirement fund just as all Americans do.

5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise, Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

6. Congress loses there current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

7. Congress must equally abide by all the laws they impose on the American people.

8. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void as of 1/1/11

The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen, they made it with themselves.



Serving in Congress is an honor, NOT a career. The founding fathers invisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and go back to work.

Sounds like a plan to me. I think its high time we quit sitting on our hands and bitching about the problems in this country and do something about it.

 

Works for me, but I would also provide for public funding of elections and prohibit outside contributions.

I'm not sure what they mean by the same health care system as the American people. There isn't one system, there are thousands. And not all Americans "purchase" their retirement fund.

I agree with the public funding of elections. As for the healthcare system I think they mean the one thats fucked up, the one us common folk get. You know, you pay outragous rates, and you might get covered and you might not. If youre dying of cancer we will just drop you, or thats pre existing. Social security is a purchased retirement fund, just a forced purchase.

 

There is term limits! It is held by the voters of the politician's venue. It 's up to them to terminate.
It's they who have that responsibility and not foist it off to another law.

There are unlimited terms for Congressmen. The United States Senate has unlimited 6 year terms, and the House has unlimited 2 year terms. This means one could serve there entire life. Unlike the president who can only serve 8 years.

 

The only true congressional reform will come when the American populace quits being told what is best for them and learn to choose for themselves. Alas, even if the public revolts in the upcoming elections, enough incumbents will get re-elected it won't change their philosophies. It's only when the leaders are thrown out that the followers begin to understand that the people are fed up.

Haven't you seen and heard enough of both parties to realize the leaders have no clue?

 

What should also be included is that the IRS is directed to place all Social Security taxes collected into a separate account. Anyone caught touching the funds in that account they lose their job pension (if they still have one) do time in federal prison in general population, and they have to repay any and all monies they took.

Then for re-election, they get a set amount from the government (less then 200,000.00) the media must give equal time.


The term limits I agree with but they are to long. Only 1 term for each. So the house 1-2 year term the senate 1-6 year. This is not to be a career.

Then the most important is the repeal of the 17th amandment. It should be back to the states legislature that appoints the Senators. That will bring more power to the states.

Also what needs to be done is NO GIFTS of any kind can be accepted that means money plane rides dinners. And there will be NO access to lobbyists.

That (to me anyway) is a start.

HEHEHEHE...people are so cute when they are niave. Do you realy thik that the powers that be are going to give up thier extremely lucrative pupets in congress? Ha. Change will come in congress when the capitol stands in flames and the streets run ankle deep in blood and not a second sooner.

 

Oh, they have a clue. They know how to stay in their jobs, and they know how to make a lot of money after they're done doing them.

The fact is, Americans won't get a better government until they learn to dislike being lied to. They haven't learned that yet.

The heck do you get calling him bloodthirsty? Because somebody states what they believe would have to happen for a change to occur, that they prefer it to come about in that fashion? I admit, 'ankle deep with blood' was probably unneeded hyperbole, but that's all it was as far as I can see.

 

I believe it doesnt have to come to that. This is a more civilized age. We live in a free country, with access to unlimited information, we can follow the political careers of whoever we want. He suggest that politicians just want to keep their positions out of greed, even if it means screwing over the public. We can make the changes needed without bloodshed. If you honestly believe it needs to come to bloodshed, you seriously underestimate how far we've come since the American Revolution. These arent kings who are allowed to do whatever they want, they're politicians. If we want them out, we vote them out.

Agreed, but can we kill all lobbyist and reform campaign contributions at the same time? Doesn't do any good to have term limits as long as they are all bought and paid for when they take office.

 

I've been trying to vote them out for 16 years and so far it isn't working! Why won't they leave already

 

The only way is to make lobbying a capital offense and all of their bank accounts under intense scrutiny.... any member who accepts ANY gratuities of any kind is immediately removed from office with a lifetime ban.


Lobbying is the reason we have a fascist state instead of a truly democratic state.

u think u are free, but u are not, the power of the few who sit on the hill in washington dc, control the futures of the many, u cant vote them out, as they wont let u, as they will cheat,fix , rig, any poll 2 stay in office, its not until the power of the people, march with there feet, & voice there discord with the law makers, the power brokers, but even if every state was 2 bus thousands of u 2 complain they just declare marshall law, impose a curfew so u could not go on the streets
