Want to solve the problem? Simple. Make mandatory drug tests for all government assistance programs. Monthly, if you want to live off of others, you better not be doing drugs, and you should be making a fucking effort to fix your life. It shouldn't take more then a year to get a job, and if you have to flip burgers so be it.

 

CFH, I agree with you about the drug testing. I also agree that there are too many people on public assistance who are making no effort to improve their situation. However, not everyone on food stamps is a deadbeat, or even wants to be on the program.

I drew food stamps for a time while I was trying to get my disability. It took me three years to get my disability, which I think is inexcusable on the part of he government. I would like to see any of them survive for 3 years with no income.

I worked for years and paid into these programs. All I was getting was some of my money back. A very very small amount. I understand your frustration, and agree with your ideas. But not everyone on food stamps is a deadbeat. Some people just need a little help sometimes. SAVE AMERICA! VOTE REPUBLICAN!!

You do understand there are five people applying for every one job out there. Not to mention drug tests aren't free, so the majority who will pass said test will ensure that expense will be put on the taxpayer's dime. For someone who is a supposed owner of a convienence store and doing well, you sure seem awfully hostile toward the less fortunate. Bet if you had a job opening you wouldn't hire a minority. I'm trying to understand you friend, but your posts make it difficult to follow your reasoning. Hope you find happiness in your life before all the pent up hatred kills you. I hate abusers of the system and am a staunch believer that someone already on assistance should not be able to collect more for additional kids born to so-called unknown fathers, but to say they are the majority you'd have to show me corroboration of that. I agree limiting food stamp access to non-nutritive food myself, as well as the drug testing.

What about POS discounts for foods with high nutritional yields like rice, beans, lean meats and veggies?

When my parents still had their store we all saw the buying habits of food stamp sales and they were mostly junk and soda, even tho veg and fruit were cheaper than a 5$ bag of chips. The majority of Philly foodstampers just liked spending $300 on 2 weeks of junk instead of $200 of 4 weeks of healthy choices.

 

Most of the people that have come in to my work with food stamps, I don't see them buy soda, I see them buy baby supplies mostly followed by fruits and veggies, then cereal, milk, and eggs. If I see anything unhealthy, it's usually little and far in between.

I see the benefit in terms of health for limiting what foods can be bought with food stamps, though, but I also see that such things can be bought for another type of health, mental health.

Even a 2-liter bottle of of coke can lift spirits. It's like this, you have little to no money and what you got to live on are food stamps. If you can only get something you like every now and then, it becomes a luxury. If you get your luxury, you won't feel as desperate or unfortunate. A simple bottle of coke can be a luxury to those with little cash, something with a brand name, something the average person has. And it's also a comfort thing. Again, you won't feel as unfortunate or desperate if you have the things the average person has.

The average person tends to have a lot of junk that's not really needed because they want and can afford it. If you can have something you desire, something that's not a necessity, it will make you feel a little less strapped for cash and will in the end make you feel not as unfortunate.

So in the end, I don't know if it's a good thing or not if it can be decided what can and can't be bought on food stamps.

 

See, I understand if someone is down on their luck, and they need some help...yes it makes sense, but if someone is on food stamps and welfare for more then a year, thats not acceptable. I'm not talking about disabled people so dont give me that bullshit, I am talking about regular fully functioning human beings who can fuckin work but dont. Unfortunately do to the economy I am forced to be on Food Stamps mys. My wife is disabled... She gets $992.00 a month... Me... A measley $248.00 a month.... Not much to live on when you consider we have to pay for housing and other basic necessities, so the food stamps come in very handy.... I wish I only got $500.00 a month in food stamp assistance, but I don't even come close..... We only get $161.00 a month in Food Stamp Assistance because we have a vehicle that is counted as income. Now I could see if we had a brand new Hummer or Caddy for them clipping our wings but we have a 8 year old vehicle which thank goodness is paid off. I am not proud to say but I have to go to our food bank at least twice or three times a month in order to survive.

Hopefully there is light at the end of the tunnel though.... Just went through my 2nd Test for a position and on Tuesday I have the actual interview..... Crossing my fingers that I get the position. I am a person that is thankful that we have food stamps to fall back on and I really don't care if I can get soda or not.... Basic necessities is all I need right now

 

This is exactly why we do need food stamps. While I sincerely hope you get the job with unemployment what it is some people will be unemployed for a while yet. Of course some people cheat the system but so what, they are not the norm and most people with food stamps are in need of them to make all the expenses add up.

 

i dont know whats been said about government help but from what ive seen or heard you have to pay all that back to them one day or the next, if you get my drift someday government assistance is going to be government taxes to the max

 

NIGGERS

Some of you apparently didn't like my last post SO here is my second one on this subject. I haven't seen anybody but NIGGERS pull into a parking lot and be 5 feet from a trash can and start throwing all their trash out the window because they are to fucking lazy to go 5 feet. 8 of ten people that park in handicapped when they are not are NIGGERS, most of the DEAD beat DADS are NIGGERS. the fucking niggers expect everything to be handed or given to them without having to work for it. The low income housing they get to live in is always tore up and then they say GIVE US BETTER HOUSING.
