It is still a very small % of gun owners that that are involved in accidents and murders. If you cut out the annual 17 thousand intentional suicide gun deaths in the USA, our statistics improve significantly.

Also, without sounding like a broken record, I think a significant factor is to do with our culture. Rather than our laws

The States set the minimum drinking age. In my State, it was 18 until they raised it a few years ago.

Driving? That is regulate by the State government as well. The laws differ from State to State.

If they are in a car with a parent that is drunk and they get killed as a result, they are a victim of alcohol.
