No one knows anything more about life than anyone else does. If you think about it all of us were born not knowing anything intrinsic on the meaning of life, and only learning our life views from our experiences and other people. Other people were also born not knowing anything intrinsic on the meaning of life.

I think this means that we should only learn what the world is through our own experiences, and take the word of others with a grain of salt until you have the experience for yourself.

I'm also not sure what life/reality/existence really are.

Do we continue after death?

Is death even what we consider death at all?

Is our being constantly thrown around the multi-verse at the whim of unseen forces?

Our world view of life is wider than our own experiences.
So open your eyes and steer clear of too much introspective thought. Otherwise you learn nothing about how you relate to the world you live in.

 

Your first premise that all of us were born not knowing anything may be wrong. (I don't think it is wrong, but for the sake of argument.) It's a very Aristotelian view, that of the blank slate that experience writes upon. Plato would argue though that we are born with innate knowledge, that our souls existed before birth and we had knowledge of the universals.

 

The opposite of fake.

Reincarnation is a prominant belief in Buddhism.

A few weeks after my grandpa died, my cousin Celine was born, and since she was born everyone in the family has been linking her mannerisms to his. Of course, it could be coincidental, but it being tradition after tradition, year after year, across the globe in different cultures, you'd have to think it stemmed from somewhere.

Just recently I heard a story of a man who was born, lived 3 years, died, and then claims to have been reborn, and he actually has memories from his first birth. He recounted the exact way he died to his mother when she never even mentioned to fact to him.

I dunno, it could be that we are just looking for guidence, or hope for "the afterlife" but, just numourous people having experiences like this makes it hard to dany without even considering.

I really want to be realistic and scientific about it, but I can't just turn the other cheek.

 

Luckily, we have some wonderful modern science that cuts through the guesswork of the ancients and demonstrates that some basic functioning of the brain exists at birth - the entire cerebral cortex has underlying structure built to process basic functions such as sensory input, motor control, emotional response, etc. There is also indisputable evidence of the impact of your DNA on brain function throughout your life . . . we are most definitely not Tabula rasa, in the classic sense of the term.

But, the idea that universal concepts get deposited into our heads during gestation is even more wacky, and there remains absolutely no evidence of such a phenomena.

There are many cases in India where a young child has memories of their past life and can find the house they lived in and their former family.

 

There are also those cases here in the US also....

Why bother with past life regression...because it is real...

People can block their brain or allow it to be open....many parents shut a child's brain down in their early ages....
