To my knowledge, no one has yet banned the ownership of bear "arms" -- if one really wishes to call their front legs that. I believe in the constitution the way I believe in the Bible: Every word ought to be taken literally.

 

Ok since no one else would I've done a little research on what New York Mayor Michael Bloomgerg and the New York Democrats in congress are proposing and actually I'm quite surprised and can't believe this is the extent of the agenda.

But so far what they seem to be proposing is basically better background checks and data sharing.

Don't get me wrong there is plenty of controversy hidden in that statement. For one thing they are talking about requiring background checks for all guns sales including gun shows, which right now is a huge hole in the federal efforts to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and crazy people. And they are also talking about making all the states enforce this which is tantamount to saying all states have to be as strict as New York which is enough to get someone shot where I come from.

But I was expecting a lot more than that including something I favor myself which is at the very least to make high capacity clips illegal.

And opps I forgot to mention that something that should start another wave of hysteria is the Obama Administration is now meeting with all "stakeholders" in the gun debate to see what steps they could take by executive order rather than going though congress.

When the laws are inforced and the criminals that have guns are put into jail then I will want to talk about possible other ways to make gun ownership safer.

But until the progressives agree that the criminal element is behind bars (actually being punished and that means no cable and the rest of the hotel they get) then we can talk.

if the goverment used jails like they are supposed to, to house criminals, there would be plenty of space in the jails. but fuck no, in their quest to get all the money they can from the american people, they put people in jail for stupid shit like being poor and letting your car insurance lapse. in georgia its an automatic trip to jail. the government is not concerned with the saftey of the public they are only concerned with taking their money.

 

Then again if jail was actually bad enough that people did not mind going in then they would also be empty for that reason.

Take away the cable weight rooms libraries and all the other crap they get that people outside have a hard time keeping. I mean the low income people.

make it so they do not want to go in, look at sheriff Joe in AZ and tent city, they beg to go onto chain gangs and when talked to they say they never want to go back in. that is the way it should be.

If the government told you that you HAD to attend their sanctioned church, or else.... That you could only read the government newspaper. You could be tried for any crime, real or imagined, that you couldn't have a lawyer, and that the government could beat a confession out of you. The government could take any thing that you "owned". That you had no recourse but to submit to these and other Laws without complaint.

You would want to overthrow that government.

That's exactly what caused the Colonies to revolt and establish the United States.

That is why we have our Constitution. One of the finest documments of Legislature ever written. A document that states what constraints are imposed on the government. How that government will operate, what it can and cannot do to you.

One of the most important parts of that document is called the "Bill of Rights" These bills establish not the rights GRANTED to you by the government, but rather that the government must GUARRANTEE to you. These are your inherrent rights. No one may deprive you of them. EVER.

Among those enumerated rights is the right to KEEP and bear arms. A right that one of the Federal Courts recently declared "refered to the individual, not the Militia".

The Constitution states that all those powers not GRANTED to the Federal Government shall be GRANTED to the States.

The Second ammendment is part of the Federal document, and therefore not subject to revision by the States. so why are the Stated making laws about firearms at all. The Constitution says they have no say in the matter.

If the drug runners can bring in tons of drugs why couldn't they bring all the guns they wanted. NO gun restraint law has ever been shown to reduce the level of crime in America.

If Felons were kept in their cells, fed, and reasonably taken care of, there would be plenty of time for them to comtemplate commiting further crime. Plus it's hard to form a gang if the prisioners can not congregate and conspire. Criminmals in prison have no RIGHT to television, cable, exercise equipment etc. etc.. The law abiding citizen must work to pay for these items. Why should the citizen be forced to provide them to the law breakers free of charge.

Some of you might think of me as a gun nut or a loony, actually I am. But, I am also a firm believer in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

All I can do is laugh at people who live in the country that has more people in prison than any other nation on earth still screaming for harsher penalties when many prisons are operating at 200% capacity and private prisons are such a huge growth industry judges conspire with the prisoner owners to get kick backs for all the kids they can lock up. Some of which are now dead. Is that tough enough on crime for you?

You can't be much of a believer in the constitution and bill of rights if you advocate cruel and unusual punishment which is expressly forbidden in the constitution.

The only reason why US has the highest number of people in jail, it is because here the concentration of black and hispanics is a lot higher (before you flame me for racism, check the stats of racial composition of jails in US and you will see what I am talking about).

And regardless of who's in prison the gun crimes that renew calls for more gun control, just like the recent shooting in Tucson is doing now, are not usually committed by blacks and Hispanics. They are usually white men just like Jared Loughner.

I was standing in line at the RMV where all the employees are black and get this:- Black people in line were complaining that RMV is racist for making them wait.
