I agree. But I can see from the posts here that they're not using the correct criteria to base the friendship on.

If you pick a woman as a friend because she's attractive then you're going to struggle to keep it platonic.

But if you're picking her as a friend, using the same criteria you would use for a male friend, then that can work. If it's someone you actually have things in common with. . . so there's a real basis for the friendship, then it can be platonic.

And when I look at my male friends - all of them we have some common activities that we enjoy doing together.
