And for the record... Killing people isn't really all that bad... Unless of course you plan to make it a career for the people you kill. See I think a slow death spread over oh say 5 years is good... just arbitrarily killing people is really lacking any sort of art or nuance. But that takes practice and study... just seems weird still how this action happens after i have turned up and i want to know why. i have read a debate about this in another thread and i think there was a point. the point was that stories containing consensual underage sex were better than snuff and rape, plus the other "sick" stories that are apparently on here. yeah, that kind of behaviour isn't acceptable in society morally and is illegal. if you lived in a small town and people really knew you were a paedophile, especially amongst macho types, you could expect death threats. i know because i have seen it. if you ask me, i think those men i refer to as macho types are denying their own paedophilia by being so anti-paedophile. its amazing really, how paedophiles are thought of as being so evil and wicked.

CJ PLEASE HELP. First part is definition of the word depiction, and the Second part is USC 2256. Nowhere is there a requirement to define fiction or non-fiction, therefore if one describes a minor engaged in explicit sexual conduct, whether factual or fictitious, one is guilty under under decision 2256 of the United States Supreme Court of child pornography.
Since this is a Federal Offence, one would also assume a slap on the hand would not be the outcome. Am I wrong ??? I am not a US citizen.

You are using examples that DO NOT pertain to WRITTEN FICTION. Your
USC 2256 concerns computer generated IMAGES and not WRITTEN FICTION.

 

This is one of those issues where there are always going to be people on different sides of the street. Some want this, some want that. Some yell for free speech, some say it isn't a free speech issue. I think we're all going to have to live with whatever it is we have here, middle ground, or not. If you can live with the middle ground, if you can accept that not everything goes your way, but not everything goes against you either, fine. If you can't, well, you can still protest (on either side). Or leave. That's always an option too. Ignoring works too, I suspect.

There are things I don't like. I don't like people who tailgate. It's dangerous. I don't like people who speed through a school zone. Kids can get hurt. I don't like onions in my meatloaf. I don't like people who love their way of life in this country but have no respect for those who serve and defend us.

I've learned to live with these things, these inequities in life. It's all about compromise. There are certain things that we all compromise on, in order to get along in civilized society. There are certain things where we won't compromise. If I see, in public, some adult swatting a defenseless dog repeatedly, I will stop that action. Same, of course, with a child. But if I see someone speeding through a school zone, I won't take out after them and force them to stop and confront them. I'll hope that around the bend there's a police car, and if not, I'll figure that they'll still get theirs.

Compromise. Most of life is about compromise.

Maybe we can think about that when we look at the new Guidelines. There are a lot of people here, each with an opinion, and no Guideline is going to make everyone *happy*.

Maybe, though, the middle ground can work.
