alright, lets not start a religious debate now. umm and im wondering do you consider a tattoo or piercing a "mutilation" as well? also circumcision is legal whether you like it or not and parents are free to do it to their male babies. I know if i have a male child i will have him circumcised. And really circumcision is what encouraged you to become irreligious? thats it?

 

I thought the whole point of circumcision in the first place was to reduce the risk of infection, right? If you live somewhere with access to clean water to bath with and your foreskin retracts, I don't understand why it would be necessary.


Personally, I am intact, and would only consider circumcision if it became absolutely necessary.

People in this thread need to chill out. A slight snippet of skin when the child is a baby is not mutilation. Overseas where they hold down a 12 year old girl and forcefully remove her clit with a shard of glass, THAT IS MUTILATION.

 

I agree with amas on this issue, guys getting circumcise is a normal thing and is not a really big issue I don't think. Girls on the other hand is quite an issue for them.

I took a sexuality class and have seen videos of female genital mutilation and it is a topic to be concern about, that is the removal of their sexual organ not just a piece of skin.

Whether a guy is circumcise or not is really up to the parents during infancy due to religious or medical choices and it really is not a big issue. But do know that there are worst things happening to young girls that will deeply impacted them for the rest of their life. Educate yourself and spread the word about female genital mutilation, protect the lives of these girls!

And another thing, everyone dismisses the infection issue because the western world has clean water for washing. It isn't about clean water, its about can you get your toddler to keep his dick clean when he pees without holding his hand everytime?

I have a unique perspective as my step son is uncut and my younger son is. When my step son was little, it was a huge struggle teaching him to pull his skin back while he urinated and to clean it after he was done and he had problems with irritation and infections. I can't get my younger son to even keep his hands clean five minutes after he washed them, much less the head of his penis, and he has never had a single moment of irritation.
