Unfortunately a lot of the public turn against them. They have a rather dubious reputation, a lot of them are happy to trade, use the NHS, schools but all the while retaining their "right" to be travellers and avoid paying tax, national insurance etc etc.
I'd happily let them retain their rights to travel, but if they want the benefits of a "modern society" then they should contribute like the rest of us.

Personally i'm highly envious of the "free" lifestyle they have, but in this day and age...

They're filthy disgusting animals. I'm not even going to call them human. In fact they're lower than animals. None of them can read or write, they can barely speak and they're all criminals. I don't usually advocate genocide but they really are dirty creatures who should be wiped out.

 

I find it slightly annoying that they are calling the pikey's that are illegally living on Dale farm 'Travellers'. That would imply they travel. They don't, they move to an area illegally, commit crime and piss off local community, and stay put.

Amas that show is like car accident. You don't want to look but you can't help it. I just cannot believe the young girls in that show?
You get to dress like whore from a very very young age, dance at social occasions like pole dancer, physically accosted at social occasions by guys grabbing you and forcibly kissed until you are married off as a virgin at the ripe old age of 16 with no education. You are then required to keep caravan (spotless) and never go out again. They make the Amish look cool!

 

Yes its real enough but of course they act up a bit for the camera.

It's a popular programme even here in the UK plenty of people who love it. It's funny to watch until you realise they've moved onto an area of parkland next to you and destroy it.

Not getting at you but people in the uk love to watch the show but hate the people involved. Its just weird.

Not necessarily - I can admire aspects of their culture, but I too wouldn't like to have them camp next to my place. Not long after they came to my door trying to sell a 'hand made' bedspread and all but tell my fortune, our car was stolen off the drive and disappeared without a trace - the last thing we had stolen was a pair of my other half's flared trousers from when they were fashionable first time around.

they are new to the life stile and it is a way of working the black economy and claiming benefits

they are most definitely not gypsies and have no protection as a separate race it is a life style choice

i know some of my distant family are showmen from the fair grounds

Its very true. One of my friends is a traveller (irish) used to hang out with him all the time when I was younger, and I've even been lucky enough to go to one of their weddings, its bloody surreal. 90% of their community is harmless and law abiding, but same with anything, you get a few twats and then everyone gets tarred with the same brush. The dressing up part is also real, the girls do make an effort to out do each other, but again as the program shows they are raised with very high morals about sex.

 

All of what you said is what got my mom hooked on the show and of course she had to call me in there to see the 8 year olds dancing like a stripper. My moms face was priceless.

I like the show though.
