I've ran adware.....malware Bytes....etc.....my computer is so slow....can anyone help an older (near 60) guy speed up my computer? Thank you in advance.

I did both, the iobit thing AND the AVG pc clean up.....iobit found 8,000 plus problems and repaired them. AVG found over 1,000 more that iobit did not find and repaired them as well. Computer is somewhat faster. But I'll say this much, my iPad 2 is by far faster than the old Dell desktop. lol but thank you very much for helping me out. I appreciate it a lot.

When was the last time you re-imaged your computer? How old is it? Spyware software really don't help after the computer is already slow..

I would also recommending removing AVG. It sucks. Use adaware

I only ran the avg pc clean up, I don't use avg antivirus, I use mcafee.

 

Get a quad or six speed motherboard computer

Nowadays less then four gig memory is slow. Have a tech put your current hard drive in it, or back up your hard drive to their hard drive, which will be larger, so you keep all your programs. Watch that thing change from a snail half asleep walking backward to a sleek mountain lion running after its prey.

Good software for keeping the hard drive virus free and running clean helps a lot, but once you get a motherboard that's built like a racehorse you'll see the difference fast. Should cost in the neighborhood of $500.

 

Use Vipre for your antivirus. Fast, unobtrusive, well respected by the pros, gets good reviews, I have it on my computer. Unlike McAfee or Norton it really stays hidden, but it catches those viruses and trojans every time.
