I really don't know what you're so freaked out over. You hardly did more than shake his hand and nobody even has to know. Get over it, it's no big thing. Most everybody has had an encounter with the same sex, they just don't tell you about it.

A bit mean, but funny all the same. I hope Honeybadger can see the funny side of it too and doesn't consider it as any kind of real advice, no matter how down he is feeling right now.

I don't think it was a story, I believe he was telling the truth (I'm not so sure about your posts though).

To Honeybadger, you made a human mistake that you deeply regret now.

I'm assuming it's the betrayal side that is eating you up rather than any revulsion to do with the homosexual act? You have no reason at all to be ashamed of what you did sexually, OK you discovered it wasn't for you (as I did when I tried it) but at least you have the comfort of knowing it's not for you now. It should remove the feelings of desire and need regarding men that troubled you before, so that's a good thing for your marriage going forward. There is nothing dirty or sordid about what you did, you were just exploring your sexuality.

Regarding the betrayal of your wife, it was wrong and it is going to eat you up for a while, but you will come to terms with it in time and the memories of it will fade. It was your mistake, not hers and as such you need to be man enough to admit that and take it on your shoulders by not telling her. This will be your penance for the betrayal, and you will be doing it because you love her and knowing that should make it a bit easier to bear.

For now just grit your teeth and bear it, remember the only important thing in all this, you love your wife and at least this experience has re-affirmed this to you.
