I've always wondered how crucial age is in these sorts of situations. As if a girl or guy who turned 18 is any more mature than a day ago when they were 17......makes no sense to me.

 

It's so like a guy, say 11 years older doesn't swoon a teenage girl by being super sweet and super charming and super smooth and (try to) convince or connive her into having sex



But in my opinion, instead of having a minimum age (or minimum anything) for all of these things, create tests that indicate maturity levels. Same thing with many different tolerences in life, like drunk driving. Some people are a hell of a lot more coordinated and quicker reacting at .08 or even .1 than MANY people are at absolute 0. Don't get me wrong, I don't condone DRUNK driving, but when I've had a few beers (ok, A LOT) and can still drive better than the granny in front of me who is swerving and impeding traffic by speeding up and slowing down, and yet still never reaching the speed limit...who is causing more danger? I have friends that are nearing the 50 yr old mark, that I really don't think should be having sex, and luckily about the only time he gets any is when I have to wing him, so I just "fail" anymore...yet my parents (at least my dad) felt I was ready for sex at 12...simply from the questions I asked when we had THE TALK out in the woods tracking a deer. We are all different people inside and out and handle many different situations differently. I mean, I was more mature at 10 years old than most of my freinds are now, whome are 15-20 years older than me. Everyone and everything is different so having a standardization for ALL people is horse shit in my opinion.

 

I think 16 seems reasonable to me.

You either have an age of consent or you do not, and consent means exactly that. I think it some what ridiculous to start putting stipulations on that.

If a 16 year old wants to have sex with a 35 year old good luck to them. If the law states that they are old enough to be engaging in sex then surely it is up to him or her to decide with whom they want to have sex with and the age of their chosen partner simply shouldn't come into it.

I think it should be 14...but many may object to that. 15 sounds ok. Anything more than 16 is just plain wrong.

 

It's 16 in most states. But why would you want to sleep with a 16 year old unless your a 16 year old? Everyone knows older women make the best lovers. I doctor once told me that from a sexual stand point the best match would be a 18-22 year old man with a 38-42 year old woman because thats when they are both at the peak of their sexuality.
