Help me understand something. What is it about vampires that people like so much? I know most women get so hot just thinking about vampires. I know most people think they are so sexy. As for me their egotisical demeanor is a turn off for me. I like confinident people but vampires are so stuck on themselves. Thoughts, comments, idea?

 

I happen to think that the reason for the sex appeal to Vamps is due to how Hollywood has changed them from the monstrous blood gorging fiends to brooding deep emotion beings.

In my opinion this long lasting trend really came into focus with Ann Rice's "Interview with a Vampire". Ever since then Vamps have taken on the image of eternal beauty, and lets face it immortality is something almost everyone would want a shot at.

 

I agree with Draegus to a degree on this. I also think it is a fascination with death. And how a vampire can take you to the brink of death and either let you live, make you a vampire or take your life. Could also be a control issue as well. And not all vampires are egotistical either. Many of them are brooding emos like Draegus said.

 

You make another good point with the whole flirting with death fascination that seems to come with the Vamp package.

Vampires were also morphed earlier than recently. There was originally the ordeal with Nosferatu and Lillith and other such, but modern vampires didn't come about until the Victorian era. Vampires became the raw sexuality that was repressed during the time period. They almost served as a canvas for people's sexual desires, and were acceptable due to the fact that they were not considered human.

 

I hope you all realise that you are dealing with objects of fictional fantasy, they were not around before Bram Stoker, unless of course you are talking of the South American pest.

 

We all know they are not real. We are talking about the pop-culture fascination with them.
