I don't know should dads show their sons how to masturbate? There's nothing wrong with talking about it but I think demonstration is a little weird. It's bad enough my mom had to show me how to put in a tampon. But thats just me I guess. Some women are not able to masturbate well for reasons we may not understand. If that is the case, just showing her may not do the trick. As for being the "role-model" I'm not sure that is a good idea - although encouraging the daughter to talk about it is certainly a good idea, if she feels comfortable discussing her sexuality with you.

There is no right or wrong way. Children should be encouraged and told it's a natural and enjoyable thing for them to explore. To find out what feels good and what they like on there own. My father might of enjoyed shoving a cucumber up his ass jerking off. Does that mean it's going to be enjoyable for me. We learn by exploding our bodies on our own.

A man's view

So I know that being a man means that my equipment is different from that of a woman, but I can truly say that I needed no help whatsoever learning to masturbate. In fact, I became quite proficient at finding newer more exciting ways to do it...including while driving down the road in the middle of the day. I believe masturbation helps someone to get to know their body better, and for this reason, aside from a sex ed class telling what parts are what, it is a better lesson learned on your own. Now, that does not mean that getting help from a lover later in life is not super fun and exciting too though.
