Are there any Canadians still around on here?

First he denied there was a video then he said he wanted to see it, now that it is out he admits he smoked crack but says only when in a drunken stupor and has no desire to resign his position of mayor and Toronto residents are in a bit of an uproar this week as he returns to work as normal. Not very reassuring that he only smokes crack when very drunk as he puts it so how often is he getting this drunk and smoking crack?

‘Yes, I have smoked crack cocaine’

The mayor long denied the existence of a video, the details of which were reported by the Toronto Star and Gawker, or that he smokes crack cocaine, but late last week police said they had obtained the video and that its contents were consistent with what had been reported.
Over the weekend, Ford said he wanted the video released, and then told reporters on Tuesday that he had indeed smoked the drug.
"Yes, I have smoked crack cocaine," Ford said, while suggesting that he had not misled the media in previous denials as reporters had not asked him "the correct questions."

Although Ford did not pin down the exact date of his crack use, he said it probably occurred in "one of my drunken stupors, approximately about a year ago."
A few hours later, Ford spoke again to reporters, telling them about the "embarrassment" of admitting his drug use, which he said he had hidden from his family, staff and fellow council members.
But Ford said he had a job to do and he intended to carry on as

I'm Canadian, and from Toronto even (moved to Toronto in January, I didn't vote for him). I hope he steps down, however it's not likely going to happen unless enough pressure gets put on him to force it.

First up I would like to apologize to all Americans on here for a Canadian making news about drug use in the political arena... Damn Canadians anyway, I promise to share more snow with you this year... HONEST!

Secondly it is not his drug use that gets me but that a man of his importance would keep company with the type of people who would be involved with Crack Cocaine. DUH!

Thirdly, Montreal has had 4 mayors in the past year so cheer up TO, all is not lost.

I was watching a funny comedian earlier and those were the words of the comedian - " He only smokes crack when in a drunken stupor". Also if he self admits to having all these drunken stupors what else he has done especially if he is hanging out with gang bangers. They should have just said he smoked crack with people but by identifying them as gang bangers (people who kill, sell drugs, human trafficking etc) he is no longer trust worthy in the eyes of the public.

Don't get me wrong I understand addiction and feel bad for the guy but looks like there is a lot more to this besides his McDonalds addiction and he is in deep. It is not like he was with city councilors or a sports team outside of a bar but the whole gang spin on this and paying the bills at the crack house still leaves lots to be answered. Mind you here our mayor often sits at the end of the bar from me in the lounge I frequent for dinner. Ya I know they are people too but I haven't noticed ours smoking crack, not yet anyways.

4 mayors ... wow, why did they all leave? We have managed to keep the same one for 2 terms now.

 

Oh so it is regular practice for politicians to smoke drugs? I wasn't aware of that.

There are cameras everywhere today and most carry a cell phone that records so one should always be expected to get caught if you are doing something publicly. Assume when you walk out the door every thing you do will be seen by someone.

As another from T.O. who didn't vote for this joker, he reminds me of the old Yankee bumper sticker: "When we needed a Lincoln all we got was a Ford."
The best thing is that the mayor here, unlike his American counter-parts, has nothing but a title; he has only one vote just like any other councillor and no real power other than that.
This arse-wipe & his brother, Norm who ran for & won Rob's former council seat, are bullies and crybabies using their local radio show to push their agenda. I don't believe that Norm did not know.
It seems that a lot here still like him and on one scrum some idiot woman yelled out "Rob Ford for PM." Most likely Norm's hope of higher office just went up in smoke as Conservatives are not exactly running to their defence anymore.
