Exactly as the title says & I hadn't given it a single thought until I saw something in a post today that indicated that the poster thought it was a very "dodgy" state of affairs to be involved in.

For me, I lurked for a while after joining & used the time to get a general impression of the forum. In the subsequent years I have popped in very infrequently, hence the low post count, but I don't feel this is a problem, but I'm just wondering what the general concencus is on here: are people mis-trusted if they have been registered a long time without making many posts?

It's kinda like that guy who walks by people and never says hello.
Nothing wrong with that but you do wonder about that person and their reasons.
And then you come to the realization that knowing the truth could get you a little more than you bargained for.
But I guess to each is their own.

 

Who cares how many posts you have. What matters is if you are enjoying yourself.

 

As others have said, it is quite common for sleepers to suddenly awaken when the time is right, though they generally have only 2 or 3 posts in the space of several years. When they do wake up they tend to suffer from posting diarrhoea and mercilessly bombard their puppet-master's victim with nonstop abuse. However, it is also not rare for someone with a small post count to dispense more common sense than the loonies who have 20k or 30k posts and who spend their time ranting about the number of posts that others have made. If you have something important to say then say it, if not then why waste your time and keyboard?

I think the problem most people have with a low post count is the said poster typically lurks around the personals section or spends the majority of their time sending "hey wanna fuck?!" or "rate my cock" PMs to people. They put all their effort into trying to get laid here instead of actually getting to know and/or talking with people.

Also, they typically start "help needed" threads where many respond only to have the OP vanish without a word of critisism or thanks. JMO.

I read mostly stories and come to GD for a laugh. I don't remember ever sending anyone a PM. Think of me as the guy who sits quietly in the corner of the bar and watches all of the goings on.

 

Lurkers are kind of like nosy neighbours. You dont really know they're there until you see the curtains twitching.

Also, just because someones been here a long time, it doesnt always mean they know more than someone whose been here for less time, but contributes far more

This type of site doesn't exist just for the talkative... you can learn here, and enjoy here without ever posting here. If anyone doesn't like their posts being read or watched by someone who doesn't post, then I guess you shouldn't post.

Some folks just aren't comfortable sharing publicly, or don't need to as they get what they want from the site without possting.

Yes, there are among the "lurkers" creepy people who are just perving your posts. Your videos, or pictures, or stories, or questions and answers.. And there are equally creepy people who post constantly as well...posting lies, or filth, or photos they have no right to share...

And there are just plain folks who wish to learn, experience, and enjoy what is offered, some look, some post, some do both.

But trying to make a judgement based on whether someone posts or not is simple prejudice of the posters against non posters, there is no evidence at all that lurkers are any creepier than the rest of us... DOH.
