First post here, but have been reading this forum for a while - so sorry for not participating earlier, I may start doing that from now on (In fact, I have had some ideas for a story that I may actually start writing at some point - if I do, I'll be sure to post it in this forum .)

I have kind of a silly question. I'm a 32 year old guy. I'm not overly hairy, but of course do have (quite visible) hair growth on my upper legs, thighs and lower belly.

I have shaved my penis and balls before, but simply put: sometimes I do, sometimes I just let it grow.

A few days ago I shaved said region again, but looking in the mirror I notice that it's quite a big transition from the now bald genital area to my legs and lower belly. It kind of looks a bit silly to me actually...

So here's my question: as a guy, how can you shave and at the same time make it look nice and good without having to shave your entire body?

(FYI: I wouldn't *really* mind if I would need to post pics to show what it looks like, but since I'm new here, I'm not overly fond of the idea as well )

Looking forward to your replies (also the ladies: what do you like when looking at a guy -> just him keeping it natural? Shaven penis/balls? Shaven completely?)

I shave myself also and am also a bit hairy. I don't shave in a greater area as that would look worse IMO. I use a pair of clippers with a #2 shield on them to trim the area immediately around where I shave. It gives a better transition from the longer hair to shorter. Just be careful not to go overboard.

Well pics would help, but since I think we have the same problem I'll tell you my solution, I shave down there then trim the rest up to a good spot near my chest so I still have chest hair but it fades form thick chest, to mid light, to none

 

As a woman, it's quite traumatizing to see a man who looks like a man everywhere else but then there's this huge bald patch around his genitals. It just looks wrong. Two or three pieces of advice:

1) Just trim. full on man bush is gross but if you trim it down and maintain it, there's really no need to shave at least not in my mind (personal opinion). If your clippers have a setting, use a 4 or 5 which keeps about 1/2 of hair where it's still soft but not unruly.

2) Transition better. That means shave a larger area and then trim/thin it out so it looks a bit nicer

3) Full waxing. Women do it, men can do it too. Chest, stomach, thighs, etc. Hurts like hell the first few times but gets easier as time goes on. I've personally turned to laser hair removal but that's hit or miss depending on your skin/hair type. I still get a full Brazilian every 3-4 weeks.

Worst experience was when I hooked up with a guy who looked hot while clothed but when he stripped down, he had this baby-cock looking thing going on with his shave job. His cock was fine as far as size and appearance but the bald surrounded by hairy was...ugh. Gross.

 

Speaking as a moderately hairy man, I never shave it all away, I (when I'm with someone, when I'm single I couldn't be bothered) always trim it down, so there's still hair there, but it's not all wild and unkempt. I refuse to shave anything but my face, and even then it's just the hair that grows on my neck.

 

To know what looks good you need a second or third opinion. What looks good shaved or trimmed may look horrible to the other person. I trimmed for a long time before switching to shaving but I think I'll switch back to trimming. I shave my cock and balls and recently started doing the inner thighs, too much hair there.

I can't help myself but reply to EroticaLady a bit further: when it comes to the three options you mentioned, which of the three do you think women will like most? I know you can't speak for "women in general", but still...

A bit of background info: I've been with my woman (my wife since 2009) since 2004, but she recently let me know she wants to seperate. It's kind of difficult, since she's been my first longer lasting relationship, so I really don't know how women feel regarding this.

There's a lot more to this story of course, but let's just suffice to say that by asking this sort of question I'm trying to mentally (and physically of course) prepare for the future, whatever that may bring.

First off, I'm sorry about your separation. That cannot be a fun thing to deal with.

Again, I personally prefer trimming versus shaving. If you're going to shave, do the whole thing. I'm a mountain biker so most of the men I encounter already shave their legs/thighs/crotch and so it doesn't weird of a bunch of hair and then a big bald spot when clothes come off. In lieu of that, trim. I prefer my man to look like a man BUT I want him well groomed and taking care of himself. So take an adjustable razor w/ a guard and clean up. It looks so much better.

The other issue with shaving bare is maintenance. We're talking avoiding ingrown hairs, razor burn/bumps, stubble (which actually can hurt during activities that include friction), etc. So if you're going to shave bare, do it right. But if you're asking me individually, trim. Trim, trim, trim. Shave the shaft and base and twins if you must but trim the man hedge instead of losing it completely. It just looks better IMO.

Lets be honest.. It was always going to look a little daft to be fairly to very hairy and shave just your pubic region bald. T&he good news is the hair will grow back. Personally being pretty unhairy myself it has never been an issue but if you have a noticeable amount of hair on your legs belly chest then you are best off trimming rather than shaving. I use an electric hair trimmer. I find a number one gives an almost clean shaven look depending on how thick your hair grows out then I would look to trim with a number 3 or 4 guard on and decrease the number by incraments till you find a suitable compromise which leaves you looking nicely groomed rather than prepped for surgery

 

I go bald, want a man the same. I don't like the taste of hair, or coughing up hair balls. I've stated in other threads about this.

 

I suppose it wont just be a back sack and crack then?
