You'd have to ask him. All I know is, he has one plant, he keeps it in the back yard, he smokes three or four joints a day and hasn't had to buy any for years.

Modernize the phrasing used in the Constitution. I don't mean let's have it say what the deepest pockets want. I'd like a literal interpretation and translation according to both content and context. If we aren't allowed the right to bear arms (for example) it should be written in plain text, not Shakespearian verbiage.

That and supply and demand. Where I live you cannot sell weed for profit. The markets flooded. But many people move it out of state, especially where its illegal for much $$$. At least that's what I hear. I dunno though. Gotta admit I don't anything about marijuana.

I don't know where you live cantido but I'm sure people can make a profit selling weed. Just NOT AS MUCH profit as they were used to. That is sort of the idea behind legalizing marijuana. It's that risk inflated price of weed that breeds crime. When the price is reflected by market pricing, it's no longer that extreme income producer that the black market thrives on.
But you're right about one thing, they will go to the states that still ban marijuana. That's where the big money is. In prohibition.

    POT

My biggest concern is how do you tell if a driver is to high to safely drive?? Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think that there is a reasonably quick test for pot, similar to the breathalyzer for alcohol. What would be the limit for safe driving. Until these and other similar questions are answered. As I have said before, I do not want the driver of a semi to be high and trying to pass me.

there are tests that have proven effective in detecting a THC level in the breath much like alcohol testing and it takes just a minute or so
it was developed originally for testing commercial drivers and has been perfected over the last few years or so

there was an article about the increase in "driving while" cases from colorado somewhere in the net in the last 2 months

osakisbl, if road safety is your major concern you should be relieved to know that states that have medical and recreational marijuana have seen traffic fatalities drop by over 10%.

The difference is that pot smokers under the influence of marijuana are aware of their impairment and usually won't drive while impaired. If they do, they compensate for it accordingly, such as by slowing down and by focusing their attention when they know a response will be required. This reaction is just the opposite of drivers under the influence of alcohol, who tend to drive in a dangerous, more risky and aggressive manner proportional to their intoxication. Sometimes they don't even remember driving home.

So while I don't advocate driving under the influence of anything, evidence shows that booze encourages risky driving, weed encourages greater caution and is not a significant factor in road fatalities.

Besides, millions already consume weed and are out there right now. When do we really ever hear of any traffic accidents that are caused by drivers under the influence of only marijuana? We don't, what you see now is what you'll see in the future.

Don't let it bother you so. You'll be fine.;)

    pot on the road

I know that there are simple tests to determine your alcohol so a to find out if you are over the limit. But, until there is a similar test for weed, there is no way I want you on the same road as I am.

I am always right. At least some of the time.

That's Up to the individual States, and they're citizens. Even then, we then have to deal with the Fed and get it legalized in the United States Codes (what are called Federal Laws). But I'll bet that'll take Decades considering the Big Pharma Lobby.

currently there are 11 bills before the government to make it federally legal but the hopes of any of them passing is nill because the industries and churches claim that doing so would harm them
so until we get the church and money out of that loop you can expect for it to remain illegal

Right, it's those prohibition profiteers who have made legalization at the federal level so difficult for all these years. They are the police, prosecutors, politicians, prisons, churches, alcohol and pharmaceutical industries, drug "treatment" and drug testing industries, money-laundering banks, and even drug gangs themselves.

Reform is coming at the state level through voter initiatives with the people doing the heavy lifting at the ballot box. When about 10 more state legalize marijuana and regulate it like alcohol, prohibition will crumble at the fed level.

You know, almost half of the states have some sort of medical marijuana program available. If you live in one of those states and have a medical card, it's pretty much legal right now. They have dispensaries you can purchase all kinds of cannabis products over the counter, anytime you choose. Those who live in states without marijuana reform might not realize how mainstream and available it is. Soon tourism, convention industries, and others, will be pressuring their states to join the mainstream. Like Florida.

North Texas has so many indoor grow rooms that the price on very high quality weed has gone down drastically...

In fact I hear some growers talking of just breaking even but they do like not having to pay for their own smoke....

I want some of that hash oil in a vapor e-cig I saw on the report that was just done on CNBC...

I also like the idea for having a candy sucker infused with THC...

As much as I hate the cold, Colorado is looking better everyday...

Has it occurred to anyone that when someone opposes legalizing pot its actually an honest opinion that we are better off without it? That it isn't some conspiracy?

Why do we always have to demonize those who don't agree with our opinion?
I mean, I can tell you; cops and prosecutors hate dealing with pot. Years ago, when I was a cop a fifteen year old kid killed himself. Blew his brains all over his bedroom with his dad's shotgun. His mom found him.

It turned out that another kid was selling pot, this kid tried it and didn't like it. The other kid started pressuring him to buy more, and the kid threatened to blow the whistle on him. The pot selling scum told the kid, fine, you start buying pot or I'll kill your family.

The kid saw no way out.

Yeah, it could have been any number of things, and the drug selling kid was preying on a fifteen year old, but the point is, I got to clean up that mess and explain to the parents why their kid blew his brains out. Plenty of blame to go around; parents who weren't talking to their kids or managing them, schools who turned a blind eye to something going on, cause you know, it was just "kids being kids", friends who stood by and didn't want to get involved, and a predator.

I couldn't fix all of it, but I did take care of the predator.
He was faced with a choice; jail or the military. He took the military. I lost track of him after that; he either got his shit together, ended up in Leavenworth, or got killed. I don't care which.

But for my part, I don't think legalizing another drug for general consumption is a good idea.

I'm not sure how prohibition helped that kid, shooter. I also fail to see how marijuana was responsible. It was a thug related crime, not a marijuana induced crime......

The idea is regulate marijuana sales like we do alcohol. It's far better and safer for our kids.

Cross over the Red River and you can see larger fields. Acres and acres of weed growing all over the place.

Like I said, there was plenty of blame to go around. My point was, that I don't think we need another legalized drug. I mean, doesn't it strike you as ironic that we're so bent on controlling tobacco and smoking but we're legalizing a drug that's most often smoked?............

and your statement that marijuana is far better and safer for our kids?
Now that scares me, that someone thinks that.

I expect we'll eventually legalize it nationwide, and regulate it, and tax it, and I don't intend to stand on street corners protesting about it, but really, do we need that shit that bad?
