I've had two FWB from work, one of which I was still casually involved with until I started my current relationship. Pros and cons obviously. The biggest con is that if you work close together and things go sour as a result of your sexual relationship, there's no escape shy of quitting. Sure you can play the harrassment card and I suspect that some of the time that may be legitimate but IMO, especially as an HR consultant, that card is way OVERPLAYED and honestly is abused. It's one thing if a guy repeatedly smacks you on the ass or consistently makes inappropriate comments but it's another if it's a one off or a misunderstanding. But the real point is you'll have to work with someone that has seen you naked and there's always the possibility that you did something you might regret and they're a constant reminder of that.

I won't do it again. It actually did happen to me. I had a male co-worker that we were always on the same projects together, traveled together, stayed in the same hotels, etc. We fucked like rabbits when out of town and it was generally fun but once it went south, it was incredibly uncomfortable although the fact that I fucked him with a strap-on multiple times (he was your stereotypical alpha male, "all man" kind of guy) gave me leverage had he ever been a dick about our fling. But even then it made things pretty uncomfortable and thankfully he took a different detail before I was going to do the same. It can be really fun, it can be hot but it needs boundaries before it gets out of hand. I will say fucking on your boss' desk and leaving a cum stain in her chair on a Friday, knowing she would be sitting in it on the following Monday was always fun. Same with the reality that her glass-topped desk had been smeared with multiple donations of bodily fluids just 72 hours prior, watching her run her hands over it, leaving papers all over it, etc.

However as a HR consultant, I'll say its generally a bad idea and most companies in the Fortune 500 space frown upon it, at least in the workplace. If it's a subordinate situation, it really gets dicey as well. In this case, I'd STRONGLY encourage people to protect themselves instead of indulging. There's a lot of bad that can come of it. You never truly know people's intentions until shit goes bad and then that's when the worst of them comes to light. Too many opportunists. And I'm mostly speaking to the men. Women can be extreme bitches in this case. I see it all the time. I help HR orgs write their policies and develop their training. Men are actually for the most part pretty even keel to workplace sex (mostly, key word) but it's their female counterparts that often ruin the whole thing and then try to ruin the guy in the process. It's honestly sad.

 

I had to business partners but the three of us shared one secratary, we where very rarely all in the office together, but when we where it was for a meeting, normal held in our little board room. she would take minutes and any dicktation in the meetings , we would normally all have a few drinks and then finish late . once in a while I would stay and give her some extra work, the one time we all got quite drunk, we'ed just closed a good deal, and I decided to stay and do some extra work on her, needless to say it was on the board room table. The next morning was a disaster as Andy was having a client meeting and he had come in late with a hangover especially for the meeting . I was in bed still or on site so luckerly I missed the main event. So the story told in the office afterwards goes like this. On the way in Andy told the receptionist to send the client straight up to the boardroom when they got there, he then went to his office and dumped himself down and tries to a range his thoughts. This ends in the great though of coffee. So off he goes to the kitchen to make some. The kitchen is just off reception so he comes out of the kitchen and there are the clients, no problem, seeing as he's at it he invites them all into the kitchen and makes tea and coffee for everyone, back up stairs to the boardroom he tells the clients to go right in he'll be two seconds he's just needs to grab some paper work out of his office. Thirty seconds later he's back out and off to the boardroom when he gets there he finds the clients standing outside the closed door looking at him strangely. So he opens the door and goes in. The place stinks like a whore house, the table is littered with empty beer and wine bottles except for a clear patch at one end that had a destinctive sweaty ass print
on it. The only thing in the waste paper bin which is right by the door is a used condom. The clients stayed long enough to throw the paper work in the bin. Andy storms around the office swearing all and everyone our secratry takes the brunt of it, he knows it her butt print,but she doesn't care and tells him to go fuck himself, I think she might have still been a bit drunk. Any way she phoned and told me I'm a a cunt and that that was the last time. Andy never said a word to me about it.

 

I've had a few, luckily they didn't end in disaster.

Seems like a bad idea. Too many ways for it to turn ugly. There is a guy I work with, though, who could make me change my mind.

 

Just like any other relationship. Has the potential to be either great or really, horribly bad. Being at work means if it goes bad, it can go almost unimaginably bad.

If for whatever reason it doesn't work out, you'll both be working with each other, and seeing each other frequently. If one of you is not mature, and can't handle that, then the shit will hit the wall... the fan, and everything around it.

On the other hand, it can be a lot of fun and really convenient and who knows, if you're lucky blossom into something more than just fucking.

I've had a couple, but I was very careful and they worked at being fun for quite a while and when we stopped fucking.. that was it we just stopped fucking and moved on. I've seen other people have much, much worse experiences though.

 

I did. Think out thoroughly. Have a back up plan.
And if questioned,..deny, deny, deny, deny.
