If you actually read them, it is pretty clear what she's saying. She's not clamoring for the death of racists. But she isn't wrong. A lot of older individuals (white and black) are quite racist. They're a holdover from a time when racism was encouraged. A lot of them still have racist beliefs and/or sour grapes. My grandfather is 89. He's a great man but he's a complete racist and once told me that I should never bring home a "darkie". Do I want him to die? No. Will one less racist be around when he does? Yes. Maybe that makes me a terrible person to acknowledge but it is true.

Other things:
Anecdotal accounts are not evidence. That's no different than Jenny McCarthy coming out and saying she knows parents whose children were diagnosed with autism after getting their vaccines. We know for a fact that vaccines don't cause autism but every now and then a kid will be diagnosed with it a couple weeks after getting their vaccines.

Correlation does not equal causation. There is a positive correlation between height and baldness in the US. Why? Men are taller and more likely to be bald. Taller men/women are no more likely to be bald than shorter men/women.

So, yes. Crime is higher in urban areas. However, everything balances out if you control for Socioeconomic Status (SES). When SES is controlled for there is no difference in crime levels or murder rates between white and black communities/individuals. The reality is that people who are poor are more likely to engage in criminal activity for a variety of reasons. Black people are more likely to be poor for a variety of reasons. Interestingly, the single largest predictor of whether or not an individual will end up in prison is their level of literacy. Schools in urban areas are not known for being good.

By your own website the crime rate in Jackson is almost 3 times as high as the national average. 930/100k compared to 387/100k. 3.8/1000 compared to 2.8/1000 residents. Murder rate is 10 times the national average, Rape is 6 times the national average, Theft is 3 times the national average, Robbery nearly 8 times the national average.
But you seemed to forget one thing. You forgot to find the race of the people committing the crimes, city govt, and the cops.

 

Would that mean the majority of white people are rich?
Why are blacks living in poverty? They have preference on any govt. jobs, contracts, loans, education, and lots of other benefits. Could it be genetics?

For the record, I really, really, really dislike Obama, but it has nothing to do with the color of his skin. It has to do with all the ways he's screwed over America, lied to the people, showed blatant partisanship while claiming to want to work with the other side, kept the economy down while running up the deficit trying to fix it, managed to find a way to turn what was a bad health care system into an even worse one, failed at international diplomacy, and pretty much done everything he criticized Bush for, but worse.

I would like someone to do a study on how many country's have black presidents and how many of those countrys are moving forwards and what the Presidents have done to help. Obamas next door neighbour Robert Mugabe has been in power for twenty years or so and all he's done is skrew the pooch.
If we are all getting the same education why are there so many stupid mistakes happening, unwanted children, drugs, gangs, violence and other criminal behaviour. In China they stopped having two children (this has recently changed because they have realised with their shrinking population they won't be able to provided health care and pensions to their retired work force) because there was no work ,food or housing for them. Why haven't the people in the projects worked this out. If I have shit I can only give my children shit! Who needs the government and Obamacare to look after them? The people who can't look after themselve.

Is it racism when most blacks would rather commit crimes than work? again how is anyone supposed to find work or even a skill when there is no-one willing to teach them how to even be adult first? and on this one its not just the blacks its all races that exist in the middle and lower economic classes, having a stable homelife and people that encourage children are the most important things for a kid in their development, without that they are taught from an early age that they are less of a person than people with homes and food and 2 parents and money



Is it racism when most black kids do not have a father? this one is more a matter of continuation of a trend. its easy to say all blacks are criminals because the numbers prove it but its a hell of alot harder to find the solutions to the contributing factors. most crimes committed by the youth are attributed to the fact that a parent or even a stable home life is absent from their childhood. the common thread in these situations is simple kids are pissed off because they missed the childhood they were supposed to have because the legal system took it from them and therefore the legal system is the bad guy. with that thought process in mind they believe that committing crimes is a payback for the believed injustices that they faced.



Is it racism when such a large % of blacks are on some type of govt. program? sadly the actual welfare numbers show that only 1% is the difference in the number of blacks and whites that get welfare benefits(39.8% for blacks and 38.8% for whites). and foodstamps is an even more radical divide with whites being 59% and blacks being 28% of the total ////

 

I think Oprah's larger point is that racism in general is still very active, not just about Obama. That is still a true statement, there is pervasive racism in the world, and it will take several generations for those attitudes to change. But if some of the people here are examples, it will take much longer.

 

Some of the people just simply accept the truth. Others want to argue about it and blame it all on others.
The condition of blacks today is completely the fault of the blacks.
Look at the Irish and how they were treated when they first came to the U.S. Most considered them the same as they did blacks.
Look at all of the other races that have come to the U.S. Each race has raised themselves up on their own. Most against odds just as great as the blacks.
Blacks have been given every chance. They have been given every benefit there is. Still they are on the bottom.
Why is that so hard for people to understand? When it comes to some program that is designed for only the blacks the bleeding hearts are all over it.
It fails and they blame those who tried to help. Then someone will come up with another benefit program just for blacks. It will fail also and it is the fault of those who tried to help.
Not many people will put the blame where it should be placed. Some people accept the truth. Others look around for someone to blame.

 

I dont like Obama...not because he is black...because he is doing a horrible job! Let a white celebrity say something to the same effect and the black community, the bleeding hearts, and the pc police would have them destroyed.
