I think all party's get what they get . The lady gave the doctor a ration of shit what did she think he was going to say ? And the doctor should know better than to talk shit you never know who is eavesdropping

I'm not saying what the docs did wasn't wrong, but it does happen. Do you think that after you leave a restaurant (or even to your food if you're rude), or after you drop your car off, etc. that people don't talk about customers that way. Leave a recorder in your car after a confrontation with a mechanic. It's all the same. These guys just got caught. I've been in the medical profession for a long time, and surgeons don't talk to people that way (if he really did, it's her word), if they weren't treated like shit first. I've also worked in a low socioeconomic area for 13 years, with people that sound an awful lot like Esther here. The Esther's are not nice, polite, or easy to deal with. They are demanding, rude, and feel they are entitled. They want things their way on their time, and are pissed if they don't get it. And they'll let you and everyone else know it, loudly and with many insults. The kicker is they are usually on Medicaid or self pay, so us tax payers are footing the bill anyway! Bottom line, I have no sympathy for Esther, I've been on the reviving end too many times!

 

I'm a surgical nurse. As a doctor, nurse, tech, ANY kind of healthcare provider, you take a pledge to provide the best care possible to each patient, regardless of income, race, nationality, weight, crimes committed, etc. This obviously does not happen as often as it should, but it is the standard we are all supposed to follow.

The operating room is a tricky place, since the patient is asleep and, in most cases, naked as soon as they are asleep to position and prep them for surgery. Whether or not the people in the room refrain from making derogatory or disrespectful comments about the patient depends on the facility standards, how well those standards are upheld by the staff, and on the surgeon.

The patient in the article has the right to respectful treatment, REGARDLESS of how she behaved prior to surgery.

A true story from Shooter.
When he was younger and dumber he was a whitewater raft guide.
You know; take people on rafts through some whitewater, get them wet, eat some good meat, drink booze........
Anyway, we could take a friend on a trip once a year, if space was available.
And we didn't always know what our group was for the next trip; just where, when, how long and how many.

Anyway, Shooter decides to take his girlfriend of the moment on a weekend trip.
Turns out, the group for that weekend was a bunch of nurses.
Shooter loves nurses.

One of the nurses became somewhat smitten by Shooter.
It started out with her flirting, and escalates so that by late that night, she's pointing at Shooter and saying "Shooter, I'm gonna get in your pants"
Which became the source for a lot of mirth and merriment around the campfire.
The other nurses were encouraging their fellow nurse to "get after it, you know you want it" while Shooters fellow guides were suggesting that the nurse might want to "check his package before you buy"
It was all good fun, you know.
Except for Shooters girlfriend of the moment, who failed to see the humor in the situation.
And, she was a redhead, which did not help with the temper issue.
It was a long night in Shooters tent on that trip.
Cause, first of all as everyone knows, you might sleep with a redhead, but you don't ever sleep with a redhead.
Second, even though Shooter did nothing (really) to encourage the smitten nurse, according to the redheaded girlfriend it was all his goddam fault.
But we finish the trip, the nurses go home, Shooter and the girlfriend patch things up, and life goes on.

A few months later Shooter has a stomach ache, and ends up in the emergency room, where the doctor declares that Shooter's appendix is failing and must come out. Right away. As in, "breathe deep Mr. Shooter and start counting backwards from 100" right away.

And the last thing Shooter remembered, laying naked as a newborn on the surgical table, freezing his ass off, freshly shaved crotch exposed?
The nurse from the river trip, you know, the smitten one, leaning over him and saying
"See Shooter, I told you I was gonna get in your pants!"

Shooter has had recurring nightmares, wondering what the fuck went on while he was having his appendix removed. You know, what with a smitten and unfulfilled nurse right there, and Shooter all defenseless and everything.

 

No one serving wether it be a doctor or a lawyer or even the guy making your food at mcdonalds likes you and where all calling you names. I know I hate the people at work and no amount of money will ever change that just he greatful you get every thing you pay for and the quality you pay form

 

A 2 month wait is considered very quick over here

 

One of my occupations was as a surgery tech in the military.. The doctors can be very cavalier in their conversations.. One C-section was on my neighbor... It made no difference to me since it was a stat-'section', so it was a random draw for me the on-call tech. she was mortified that her neighbor saw her naked.. [She as no beauty queen, either]

 

Yeah, my parents did. And I hope to do the same.

 

You should take that advice.

 

This is something halfway between "Sticks and stones will break my bones, but word will never hurt me," and "What you don't know won't hurt you."

Every occupation that has to deal with the public has incidents such as this. It's a way to deal with the stress of the job and it's human nature. It doesn't mean anyone does less of the job. It just makes it easier to get through the day.
