As far as a strictly sex party goes (with, okay, a little BDSM), around 12-15 people at a swinger couple's house. It turned into an 11-person orgy eventually. Worst part: Not having the time or energy to fuck everyone before I fell asleep.

Sex/BDSM house party, up to 30 people; not everyone did everything. Some people didn't do anything sexual at all. Worst part: Putting my clothes back on.

Sex-positive BDSM play party, over 200 people, but again, not everyone does everything. Some people just hang out, watch, talk to their friends, etc. These parties are always way more about BDSM than sex. You'll see a few dozen people doing BDSM scenes in the main dungeon for every blowjob or fuck in the corner. Worst part: Can't always find a play partner, I'm an introvert so the crowd can get to me.

Swinger's club: Around 150-200 people. They're all there for sex or watching people have sex. It's not a party really, I wouldn't say; too many separate rooms, not enough public sex or group sex! Worst part: Not exactly a consent-based or safer-sex-oriented environment.

 

I've been to several bi-male hotel or house parties where most the guys are married. Occasional females, often a CD or 2. It's an excellent way to discover what you do & don't like.
Turn-off: fat old men who gravitate to these things and won't take NO for an answer.

 

Been to swinger parties and clubs. Always fun playing in a group. Have done a black out room at a swinger convention. Room is totally dark. Can't see who u are touching or who is touching u. Very exciting.

I attended a sex party once. The best thing, was getting blown watching people have sex. Watching guys getting laid and blown, just a few feet in front of me. The bad thing, no girls were there.

The best thing is ofcourse the orgasms; it does that for me. The worst thing is keeping it hush maybe, but at one party I was the 'other room' party girl and the guys took turns, and I fainted and passed out during the sex.

Was in a swingers group for about 2 years. Rented out a hotel bar room for the night and Roms for later. Invitation only. Great atmosphere but public sex had to be very discreet and hidden. Lots of foreplay. Music, drinking, meeting people. We didn't always hook up with another couple, but always had a great time.

 

The regular downside is when one person in the couple has altering motives or not honest with their partner. The absolute worst thing that has happened was a fist fight between two guys over silly stupid stuff.
