Personally, you're paying for sex either which way. You after all, are trading something, be it services, skills, items, time for sex regardless.

Directly trading sex for money seems like a 'no-no' or at least society views it that way. Yet, take a girl out on maybe 3 dates to 3 nice restaurants and picking up the bill, plus gifts or movies/drinks , and time listening to them getting to know them. All this song and dance just for a CHANCE to have sex with her, she can still say no after you put effort into making dinner plans and playing for said dates or even spending time listening to her. Hell, I was reading an article in the news about this app where people go and trade stuff (strictly a barter system, no cash at all) and some people were trading sex/sexual favours for items like bus tokens/skilled services/other items. The app's creator/company said it wasn't going to ban trades for sex (they are rare on the app) as it doesn't violate their ToS, she even went as far as to say people trade for sex all the time indirectly anyways (ie, dates, gifts, etc...).

Down to the point, why is it so taboo to trade sex for money? why do some people view those that pay for sex as scum or desperate?

Don't get me wrong, I see value in dating and having a relationship, you're aiming for someone to spend the long-haul with. But for easy, available, no-hassle sex paying for it seems like a no-brainer, you don't have to deal with the upkeep of a relationship and you get to have the fun.
