Here's the thing. When a woman walks in to the room, I can always smell her. Assuming of course this is a woman who takes care of herself. But even at the end of the day, when my cologne has long since evaporated, they walk by me and smell so good I have to make adjustments in my shorts so as not to freak out the little kiddies in my class. (I'm an English teacher in South Korea, FYI).

But I've always wondered that. I smell them in stores, I smell them walking down the street, I smell them when they've just gotten out of taxis I get in to, it's amazing and baffeling at the same time. Girls, help me out here. Do they just make women's fragrences more potent? I can't seem to get my cologne to last more then a couple of hours. I groom, I take showers, I wear deodorant-no aftershave though-and I use a few spritzes(sp) of cologne before a date or just going out or sometimes to work to show the hot co-workers I can smell good too, but it never stays. Can I just not smell it or am I right about the whole thing and y'all really are just the fairer of the species and you do this by some kind of feminine hippy earth magic. :wink:

And just so wear clear, I am not smelly, I'm just paying enough for my Polo Blue that I want it to last more then the time it takes me to make it to the club or to walk to work.

Either they continue to add their perfume all day,or they have a higher quality of perfume than men do,or we get used to our deodorant.That really hasn't answered your'e question tho. I think they add all day and we get used to our own scent.

My educated guess is that your nose gets used to the smell of your cologne, but each girl that you pass has a new scent. You get a small whiff, appreciate it and move on.

bad example would be a Pizza Parlor. When you go in, it smells like pizza & you like the smell. When you leave after dinner, you can't smell it. Your nose gets used to the smell!

I had a friend that had your dilemma. He kept adding more cologne so 'he' could smell it. We couldn't hang out & meet the ladies because he reeked of cologne!

 

Now that's just not fair!

 

Seriously, guys, trust me when I tell you that girls obsess about how they smell at LEAST as much as men do. Girls have nooks and crannies that get moist and are wonderful breeding grounds for microscopic things that smell.

So most of us leave nothing to chance, and are almost compulsively clean. I try not to overdue it in the perfume department, but I'm certainly not above freshening up at intervals during the day. If I'm going to have a guy nosing around between MY legs, he's not going to smell anything but cherry blossoms, strawberries, or whatever suits my fancy that day.

No doubt females know what smells nice... and how to use it to thier advantage!

I also think that you just get used to your own scent throughout the day. I realized that when people would say things like "you smell nice" or "what cologne is that" late in the day. Good bit of re-assurance!

I always try to be careful who I compliment on smelling good. I'm never sure if it will be offensive to the girl or not. I try to keep it to people I'm close friends with.

I know the owner of the bar I frequent smells so good it makes me dizzy sometimes. And she's got a sweet ass, which is hard to find on a Korean girl. It's a double whammy. God hates me.

i asked why my girlfriend always smelled good the same strength like ALL day.... she said she didnt notice.... so i think we just get used 2 it.... and another thing my girl said i smelled really good 9 hours after i put on my axe..... so yea we just get used 2 that shit

Gotta chime in.

Two reasons. First, there are pheremones, naturally occuring chemicals in the human body which are used to attract members of the opposite sex. All animals have them, and I can actually tell when my wife is hornier than normal, even though I smoke.

Second is the type of perfume. Many moons ago I sold perfume on the street. Most of the cologne and stuff you buy is "Eu de toillette" - literal translation from french is "Toilet water". The best perfumes are oil, which soaks into the skin and lasts all day, even past a washing. Incidentally, a perfume or cologne's final smell depends heavily on how the scent interacts with your own personal body chemistry. Just because it smelled good on your buddy doesn't mean it won't smell like rotten meat on you.

Try different types, buy small bottles, and have a member of the opposite sex give you honest opinions when you try a new one.

So few wear it,and when I'm out & someone is actually wearing it, I'm all over them.
