This, here, is a "comic". That I drew. Last night.

Please go easy - im still developing my drawing skills, and while I know this is far from "good", its my first attempt ever at drawing anything "erotic".



And yes, those lines on her are supposed to be whip marks - thanx to the pen, they didnt come out like I wanted them to.

The story behind the image is a fantasy i've been toying with for quite a while of basically a group of space pirates who go around pillaging ill-defended settlements for slaves. Most of the women are either given to the Temple of Pain or kept as sex slaves for the pirates Noble class. Those slaves that show exceptional endurance and skill in their various tests may eventually become Preistesses of Pain themselves. This picture depects a Preistess of Pain and a slave.

So, thoughts? Critisism? Requests ?

The only things I really screwed up is the Mistresses hand holding the riding crop and the slaves (viewers right) right tit. Oh, and I forgot to erase the pencil lines - i'll do that and re-upload it later.

Try doing your inking on a seperate sheet of paper. You can get paper thats designed so you can see through to do it, and it removes those pencil lines, which I personally feel detract from the picture.

 

No need to - I just need to fully erase the damn pencil lines before I scan them in

 

Doing it on a seperate sheet of paper would save the hastle. Or you could start drawing in "photo blue pencil" (i dont know exactly what that is, you'll have to investigate) which wont scan. Or just draw in any colour other than grey, and edit it out by colours afterwards.

Although I’m not into your subject matter, you should know that you have real talent as an artist – particularly as a cartoonist: capturing facial expression and body movement in just a few pen strokes is a very special gift and it is clear that you have it.

“Invisible” knows what he is talking about so listen to his advice. For his information the “photo blue pencil” (actually any light blue pencil will do) was used in the days before computer scanning, when line drawings were photographed and engraved on metal plates for printing. Cartoonists used the pencil to mark areas they wanted filled in with “applied halftone” (prepared transparent paper with screen dots of various sizes from 80 to 120 dots per square inch depending on the paper used in final printing). This was pasted on the blue areas which did not show up in the photo used for engraving. So “Invisible” is right when he says it will not scan nowadays. Here are some other ideas

After the pen lines have dried (if it is waterproof Indian ink), mix some water with the ink and apply it as a “wash” to give your drawing shading and depth (I do this with a lot of my black and white work). Also try ordinary pencil drawings with various grades of pencil for shading. This will scan well in grey shades. Both these techniques can be combined (and many others added – as in this illustration for one of my stories). Whatever you do, keep drawing!

Another suggestion would be, if you're good with computers, to scan the pencil drawings and ink in a computer program. To be honest not something I've been able to learn to do myself.
