  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

From my knowledge this is a normal earth cycle.
All the hype is just political rubbish.
Although the prediction is a 5 degree increase in temperature over a 60 year period.
That is less than one degree per year.
What can I do about it?
I guess I could become more water wise and not waste as much!
I could recycle(and do it properly)!
Ride a bike to work and walk a bit more!
Leave my lights off when I don't need them on,Kitchen, bathroom etc.
Plant a tree even if you don't have room in you're yard,go and plant one in a forest!
Or I could just leave it as it is, as it's not my problem,it's your's!

I hope someone gets my picture?

Well, that's rather a quibble, don't you think? You might as well say that ALL hurricanes are category 1, because at some point in their life, they are.

Katrina was a cat 5 until it made it inland to Saint Bernard Parish and Jefferson Parish then it quickly receeded in strength. I was working as a Paramedic in the Gulf at the time and volunteering as a firefighter/paramedic in a community just west of New Orleans when it hit. However the strength of the storm was not what destroyed New Orleans, it was the poor levy system that would have not withstood a direct hit from a cat 3 storm which is what cruse may be thinking. All the media coverage that followed tended to confuse that issue.

lol What, Kimi, you think that was the only Cat 5 ever formed?? How about these:

    1928- "Okeechobee" 160mph winds

    1932- "Bahamas" 160mph

    1935- "Labor Day" 160mph

    1938- "New England" 160mph

    1947- "Ft. Lauderdale" 160mph

1950- "Dog" 185mph <--Whoa, thats powerful, must have been Global Warming!

    1951- "Easy" 160mph

1955- "Janet" 175mph <--Holy Crap! Global Warming again!

    1958- "Cleo" 160mph

    1960- "Donna" 160mph

1960- "Ethel" 160mph <---OMG, 2 in one year! Will someone stop the Global Warming?!

    1961- "Carla" 175mph

    1961- "Hattie" 160mph <--2 years in a row with 2? We're all gonna DIE!!

I can keep going, in fact I can list 12 more before Katrina. And all but 5 of them were at Cat 5 when they made landfall, unlike Katrina.

But I think you get the point.

How in the world did you manage to interpret what I said as "there aren't any Cat 5 hurricanes? I said it was erroneous to say that Katrina was a Cat 3 hurricane, because it had been Cat 5.

trying to connect the dots of storm intensity over a handful of seasons and make a clear linkage to something as complex as global climate shift is a real scientific stretch. Our ability to gather data about these storms has only a decade or so of any decent sophistication.

I'm willing to see the quote where any reputable meteorolgist has plainly said there is a direct, causitive effect.

Now, this post should not be taken as an argument against "global warming", or that the "crisis" is man-made . . . only that using this specific issue as a compelling point is fairly laughable.

I had no Idea there'd been so many serious storms in the past century..Guess I just fell into the current thinking that it was just recently getting a lot worse..

But my initial point was just that it seemed silly to say, based on the way the weather's gotten, that the planet WASN'T getting warmer, whatever the cause..

And I still think that we've helped it along considerably, but that's not to say it wouldn't be happening if we weren't here..

By the way, today was off the hook! 92 degrees was the high here in Jersey, I heard on the news we'd set records..

I wish people would stop looking out the window to figure out whether or not global warming is real. It takes thousands of atmospheric readings, all over the world, to arrive at defensible conclusions about the warming trend. Localized weather is subject to a million variables that may make it colder, warmer, rainier, drier, snowier, windier, whatever.

What no one reports is that the earth warms and cools in cycles. I remember being in high school in the late 70's and we were discussing global COOLING! It was even on the cover of Time magazine. Yes, we are slowly destroying the planet, but don't need the scare of impending doom. We should be looking for other fuel sources and recycling. But Al Gore flying in his jet from city to city telling people that the world is going to end if we don't stop global warming is just silly. The planet is everybody's buisiness. It doesn't matter what we do as long as countries like China and Mexico don't have the envromental restrictions that we have.

It would be helpful if you and others would stop misrepresenting what Al Gore actually said.

And is it your position that as long as China and Mexico are polluting the Earth, we should too?

What I was saying is that we SHOULD do everything we can to save the planet, but other countries need to do things too. China is kicking our ass in manufacturing due to the fact that they have no envromental controls. This isn't just America's problem. It needs to be addressed by the entire world.

As far as Al Gore, I have no respect for him. He's profiting by this whole thing way too much. With his money he could afford to turn his mantions to solar power or wind power, but doesn't. Practice what you preach, Al!

It's kind of funny to watch right-wing trogolodytes falling all over themselves to trash Al Gore, just because he's Al Gore. I guess if Rush Limbaugh suddenly decided to take up the cause of global warming, we might just make a little progress.

And you might want to look up the actions Gore HAS taken with regard to his property.

    Good Answer Kimmi.

This summer for the first time in recorded history ships have been able to pass through the Northwest Passage through the Arctic Sea. Yes we are in a warming pattern that repeats itself every several thousand years or so however acording to the core samples of ice taken from near the North Pole it has not been a thaw this severe show up anywhere in the samples. These samples were taken by joint expiditions involving several governments from around the world. The curious thing about this whole argument is that the only scientific data provided that disputes global warming is from corporate funded research.

Oh, but surely you know, those scientists are lying through their teeth...they're just angling for more research money with which to line their pockets.

    *sarcasm alert*
