Quite a wonderful poet he is, I overcame this quote and reminded me of the movie Inception, fantastic movie btw.

To me this quite is implying that the reality is within a fantasy, or it could mean that the reality we are in now is only but a fantasy. What do you think?

 

Well I see a lot of shows and I totally did not like that movie and never finished watching it. I don't understand what all the rave was about over it. Perhaps I will try and watch it again sometime and give it another chance.

Life is a fantasy for some and fantasy becomes reality.

 

I'm sorry that you didn't like it, well that thing that gets me about it is the concept behind it plus the CIG of all the events happening within the dream.
As for the concepts, the idea that we are more incline to do something when an idea is planted in our head is remarkable, because that's what the public media exerts on us all the time. Repeated pounding of images, advertisements, etc makes us think a certain way. So I just thought that it would be interesting to think about.

I disagree there is only 2 things for certain in life and that is death and taxes. :excited:

 

some states in the U.S such as Oregon and Nevada doesn't pay certain taxes, but for the most part, Ben Franklin's quote is very true. So true yet so grim for him to say such a thing haha, i rather go with "in life what's certain is the uncertainties that life brings, the adventures that life creates, and the mysteries that can be discover"

 

I don't know who originally said it but I got that from my dad as a child, he would tell me that sometimes. I don't know what you pay for taxes in the USA but here in BC it is getting out of hand. No one likes this new HST. For those of you who do not know what it is (Harmonized Sales Tax) For everything I buy it is 14% tax.

 

The quotation is said by Benjamin Franklin during the colonial era where they were in the times of being tax by the legislation at the time, and many tax were imposed on the colonist leading to riots and rebellions due to tax acts such as the Sugar Act, Tea Act, etc. Thus Ben Franklin said this quotation to express how the colonists cant get away from taxes and it held true to this day lol

well we don't have a set tax rate for everything since there are many many different kinds of taxes, for consumer products such as things bought from a mall or store it's 9.25% tax that's from a pack of gum to a car i think, then there's salary taxes, house tax, property tax, and the list goes on.

 

9.25 ha-ha they have to get that .25

 

haha yup, curse them, my burgers use to be cheap until they changed it from 8.25% to 9.25%, made a big difference, and that .25 doesnt help either lol, oh well...

Yeah it was a neat movie. reminded me of a book I read by Dennis L Mc Kiernan where some of the characters did "dreamwalking" basically the same thing as inception. they would meet up in the dream and then visit other dreams others were having.

Everything we do and know is literally made up by our brains as we go along. you know, electrical impulses and stuff. You hit the nail on the head with this topic because it's even discussed in the Socratic dialogues.

I think they go hand in hand. the dream leads to the reality and the reality is the dream. So yeah... a dream within a dream would fit. hahaha!

 

thanks for the input, I have not heard of that book actually, I'll be sure to check it out the next time I'm at a library, it has a really interesting concept. This topic is really amazing because it's open to so much interpretation and you can't help but dream a dream of your own after thinking about it.

About the book; It's about something completely different... a fantasy novel. lol! but the dreamwalking/dreamwalkers are part of the story and the book was called "voyage of the fox rider". He wrote another one called "caverns of socrates" which he does delve into the socratic dialogues, and in essence the dream within a dream idea.

The original story of the caverns of socrates is known as the "Allegory of the cave" and is a fictional conversation between plato and glaucon and is written by socrates.

Find it on wikipedia, there's a decent account of it there... kind of a coles notes version.

yes that would be a nice dream to have lol, but i was thinking of more on the line of being able to fully experience your dream vividly such as being able to travel the world and feel like you've been in your dream for years on end.

That depends on my mood. Sometimes I like travel, other times chocolate, good food, great sex, money, spirituality, I love riding my horse. It is all good as long as there are no nightmares. I have been fortunate enough to make most of my dreams become reality.

oh cool that is really interesting that you have a horse, how awesome is that, every girl's dream, well pony more like it, but still good.

As for me I tend to dream about travel alot since I'm mainly stuck where I live until I can afford to move around freely. Yea I would just love to travel the world and explore different regions, and like you say it depends on the mood, when the hormones strike an occasional wet dream can't be help.
