So there seems to be an increase in the cases of butt hurt in New Orleans this year. Leftist artist, Katrina Brees, said that her heart just wasn't into this year, when asked why she cancelled an illegal Fourth of July parade in New Orleans. She sounds like a typical self loathing immature stupid spoiled brat Democrat. Boo hoo, the little Democrat brat didn't get her way, so now she's taking her toys and going home....

This parade has been done for a few years with no incident or complaint of being illegal, so what suddenly makes you believe that for any reason that it is not permitted?
Do you even know what the Kolossos Krewe is?
Did you know that withing a day that she was in that area helping to rebuild without government help after Katrina?

I (Katrina Brees) have made the decision to cancel this year’s July 4th flotilla.

We thank you for making kolossos memories and rituals with us over the years.

The kolossos growth of the crowds has become too much for me to manage. Left boats and litter from people not associated with our krewe have made this event a kolossos chore.

I hope you will consider parading with us for Krewe of Boo, Krewe of Muses or Krewe of Tucks.

As far as Bree's previous community involvement, I have no idea what she did, nor do I care to find out. I just found it interesting that another butthurt liberal Democrat is having a temper tantrum, because she upset about an election and is now taking it out on others.

 

If this were true, then why did she find it necessary to blame the current POTUS to both papers?

 

July 4th boat parade on Bayou St. John canceled due to problems with messy crowds

Organizers of the Krewe of Kolossos 4th of July Boat Regatta on Bayou St. John have decided against holding the popular boat parade this July 4 because of increasingly large crowds and the mess they often leave behind them.

Katrina Brees, the group's founder, said she has implored participants to remove their garbage from along the bayou after each boat parade for the past five years.

But she noted that most people who come to the bayou that day aren't affiliated with the krewe or even there to see the regatta, making it difficult to get a handle on the problem.

The situation has led to complaints from nearby residents, who are upset not only by the garbage but also by the use of illegal fireworks in the hours after the boat parade ends.

The flotilla was scheduled to take place along the bayou from 5 to 8 p.m. July 4, featuring patriotically decorated watercraft and a coronation of krewe royalty.

The Krewe of Kolossos website still was promoting the boat parade as of Friday, and information on the event remains posted on several prominent tourism websites and events calendars.

Anyone still planning to attend, however, will be in for a disappointment.

“It really got old picking up other people’s messes out there,” Brees said. “There were only about 20 of us from the krewe out there last year on the Fourth of July, but then it was like thousands of other people started showing up and it got really big. We took a lot of heat for that. People were griping at me when I was out there cleaning up other’s people’s trash.”

She said last year’s event was particularly vexing, with garbage scattered all along the green space that lines the meandering bayou through Mid-City. Brees pleaded with the crowd to clean up after themselves, and the krewe went so far as to call out would-be participants in a memo on the Kolossos website.

A similar note to last year’s revelers was met with apathy, Brees said.


“People wouldn’t listen to what Katrina was saying and they did their own things, which included leaving a lot of trash out there," said Richard Valadie, the owner of a local float-building company called Royal Artists who was the first king of Kolossos six years ago.

Valadie said he knew some neighbors complained about the trash in particular, though he questioned what more Kolossos members could do other than admonish untidy crowds. After all, most of the people weren’t taking part in the krewe event anyway, he said.

“I think most people enjoyed us being out there,” he said. “But some people are uptight about things like this and they don’t want anyone on the bayou, even though it’s a public waterway. And that’s too bad.”

A member of the Faubourg St. John Neighborhood Association’s advisory board who asked not to be named said his organization had no problem with the boat regatta but did have complaints about people not associated with Kolossos leaving behind trash and also shooting off fireworks illegally in the city limits.

He said if a formal complaint was made to the city, it came from another neighborhood group in the area.

“We took no official position on this,” the board member said.

The founder, artist Katrina Brees, no relation to Drew by the way, said her heart is just not in it this year. She said on her Facebook page, “As a patriot, I’m not feeling it right now. The flag looks different to me this year and I’m not sure I want to wave it or wear it.”

Brees told nola.com that the symbolism seems off-base since the election of President Donald Trump. “When I think about wearing my flag dress and waving flags; I don’t know what it means this year,” she said.

She also told nola.com that the Trump-targeted lampooning she saw in Mardi Gras parades this year didn’t brighten her spirits.

“Even the humor, it just kind of upset me,” she said. “It wasn’t funny anymore.

 

Wonder how they tell the difference in the trash left by the people at the parade and the normal trash already there?
Anyone who has ever been anywhere near New Orleans can tell you it is the nastiest city in the U.S.

I found it interesting that one article cited her dissatisfaction with the amount of work required to put on this parade, while the other cited the political environment. If it was too much work, then that's fine. I'm sure it's a lot of work before, during and after. My question was why she (or the writer) had to bring politics into this?

 

Why was politics brought into it? Because faux news needed something to get their base into a tizzy. Read her words and she does not say that it is because she opposes Trump but because of the political atmosphere over all.
