I'm a mostly normal (physically, anyway) , semi-goodlooking kind of guy, but with acne problems like nothing you've ever heard of (massivly on my shoulders, and pretty bad on my face and neck and a little bit on my chest and back). I thought that I could just "wait it out" for it to go away as I got older, but it hasn't gone away.

I'd like a little perspective. How big a deal is it? How big a factor relatively speaking?

Pretty much what I'm asking, is, just how miserable is it going to make my life?

 

Honestly, probably a little, but really depends how your personality is as well. If you have a great personality people should easily overlook it. Also weeds away those shallow people.

You don't say how old you are, but there's hope...metabolisms change. Hopefully, you won't end up with the kind of permanent remnants some folks have.

In regards to the cheeks, chin and neck, you can hide it with facial hair.

But also see a dermatologist, and use various creams and products that claim to take care of acne (not all of them work for everyone, but experiment and see what helps).

 

I've been to dermatologists. I've tried everything from pills to creams to whatever. For more than eight years now my skin has been subjected to treatments that would leave "average" skin (whatever that means) severely burned.

There's nothing I can do to make it go away, so I'm going to have to live with it, and if it is a major "eww" factor, I'd like to hear the details on why and what I can do about it.

 

My uncle took treatments for it until he was 35. Said it was mostly on his back.

 

Chinese herbalism (not so much acupuncture) can be successful for treating acne.

 

ive had acne since the 6th grade, im now almost 27. . .ive tried EVERYTHING. . .been to five dermatolotists. . .it's not major as the dermatologists would say, but it's major to me. . .yes, ive even tried proactive, that didn't work either. . .i'm living with it, no one around me seems to be grossed out by it at all, so, if you're skin is like mine, just do the best you can trying to keep the outbreaks to a minimum and im sure you'll find "the one" and they won't care if you have a few zits. :rose:

 

Im uber fortunate I guess, because my skin is clear and just has a few bumps! Thank god, my brother had a lot of acne and proactive didnt help he used something else like sweedish shit and it kept the outbreaks down, how old are you dude?

 

Sounds like me, only mine started a year or so earlier, built up gradually untill I was in high school. (That was a fun four years... not; imagine going through the entirety of Highschool as a grotesque geek. Its a dark, traumatic blur and I'm glad as hell its over.) Proactive is a joke BTW, didn't even make a dent when I tried it. What I use now is a high-concentration Benzelperoxide cream (That would severly burn "normal" by which I guess they mean naturally clear/fair skin) that keeps the breakouts down if I use it consistantly (meaning, I have it on so much I can't have a life, defeating the purpose) so my skin feels smoothish, but it still looks horrendous (massive red blotching and such) and the cream does nothing when I get a bigger pimple. Big white pustules that looks gross and hurts like hell. (fortunatley those have become rare)

Maybe I just live in a really shallow town, and I hope that's the case.

Would you (female readers) date a guy that kind of problem? How much would it weigh in on your "undesire"?

 

yeah, go see a dermatologist. i know its not original, but goddammit i used to have acne, not very severe but still... he got me soem stuff to put in my face and for the first time of my life something for acne worked!!

 

Ive been (why does the apostrophe key keep screwing up my window when I'm typing these posts?) to multiple dermatologists. They all threw their hands up in exasperation because nothing they did made much difference.

Im NOT asking how to get rid of acne, I asking how to live with it.

 

Proactive or if you see your doctor get Differen gel....

sounds like you've got the same kind I used to REALLY struggle with, up until last year actually. You should really check out this stuff called Murad Acne Complex, it worked for me cus it has no Bezoyl Peroxide (which since I had inflammatory acne BP made it 10 times worse) I'll try to find a link to the site for you.

And everybody who thinks acne isn't a big deal and can be fixed easily, you're dead wrong. Unless you've had bad acne you have no idea what it's like. You wanna hide your face every single day and hope to god that nobody sees you and says something about your face that you're already extremely insecure about. Everytime you wanna ask a girl out, you're self conscious about your face and think cus you have acne that she's too good for you or won't be interested. Your friends constantly crack jokes and it's really a living hell, especially if you can't fix it.

And no you can't hide it with facial hair or with anything else, I don't know who told you that.

Anyway, I'm not sure about you but I was lucky enough to be somewhat good looking so a lot of girls saw past my acne, even at its worst and I still had gfs and had girls interested in me and surprisingly had a lot of compliments about how I look. Plus if you have a really good body it helps cus I know people who still have acne but are in good shape so girls see past it.

and the most important thing, this is KEY: be confident, no matter how bad you think you look, don't let on that you're insecure and if you have good qualities, they'll shine through enough that hopefully girls will see through your acne

I've too had plenty of compliments, but usually from friends or a girl who just rejected me. "Oh, yeah, you're cool and nice and hansome and all, but I wouldn't touch you if they paid me a million dollars" or something less blunt but to the same effect.

and trust me, I wouldn't be saying something about Acne Complex if I didn't know for a fact that it works. I tried everything and I mean everything available before this stuff and while the other things helped a lil bit, cleared me up some, this tuff did the trick completely, I still get breakouts from time to time but they're so much less severe, so much smaller, and only last a day or two at most. Give the stuff a month to work and use it exactly how the instructions tell you, you won't regret it, and if you use it right and it doesn't work, you can send me a hateful PM every day for a month
