  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    StanleyOG.

I think that's actually possible! I was looking for a book for my nephew a few months ago and that book was in his reading age group.... I had a flick through it, and while I thought it was quite funny, i thought it was a bit odd and unusual.

My nephew is going to start out strong. He's gonna be reading 12th grade reading level by 3rd grade. Our family has always been like that. We're a strange exception. All of us like to read. I showed this thread to my sister and my parents and they thought the list was ridiculous. My mom and dad having read all of the books on the list.

See, if I was more proactive I'd suggest writing letters of support or something to the ALA, but I'm too lazy. And I hope you meant showed them the link and not that actual thread. I'd be weirded out if my mom knew I was bumming around a sex forum. But whatever works for you, I guess.

A six year-old would NEVER make it though Lolita. It really bogs down about a third of the way through. I know, I've been trying to read it for over a year. DAMN YOU, NOBOKOV!!!

The psychology is good, but there's about two chapters worth of boredom as they drive around the country seeing things where nothing interesting really happens.

I'm glad you didn't give up reading Wuthering Heights as it's a great novel! I loved it! I still havent read Austin's Emma.... and while I have about 5 editions of Moby Dick, I still haven't finished it.

I've read 5, mostly at school as part of english class. I can understand why people would want some of them banned, but not why they would actually succeed.

I've read twelve of those. And you see what it's done to me? I've become a pervert! :D

The one that really put me away was "Tom Sawyer". I mean, Huckleberry Finn, I could see southern racists not liking that one, but Tom Sawyer is a kids book, pure and simple.

I'm not sure I understand the objections to "The Dead Zone" either. Maybe I missed something.

But then again, the entire list is bogus, so let's start with that. It actually makes a pretty good "recommended reading" list for the next time I teach.

If ignorance is bliss then they must be the happiest folks in the world.

I heard a story recently that a county in Texas had stopped it's schools teaching French on the basis that "If English was good enough for our Lord Jesus Christ it's good enough for us."

I'm not sure if I want it to be true or an urban legend.

No wonder you see people like that walking around in that strange euphoric state, smiling vacantly at everyone. It must be nice...

I've read 15 of the books. I didn't like all of them too much, but I don't think any of them should be banned. I don't think we should "ban" any form of literature, although parents and teachers should suggests certain books and not recommend others. Also, you have to remember that this is not the complete list of all banned books, and that most of these books are not banned in most places. The book I personally liked least was Catcher in the Rye, but I understand why some people could like it. Lord of the Flies was largely unimpressive as well, though it has obvious social value. I really like Brave New World and, of course, Harry Potter.
