  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    Calling All Writers: an overview
The CAW (Calling All Writers) is a writing competition hosted by the members of XNXX. It was started by ejls and this is the 20[SUP]th[/SUP] edition. Every competition has its own set of rules and regulations. The host (The winner of each previous competition) picks a theme, and all participating members have to create a story around that. In the past, the hosts have used songs, pictures or paragraphs as well as themes.
The theme for CAW 20 is Fairy Tales. It’s very simple – pick a fairy tale you like (Just include the name and author) and alter it as you wish. The possibilities of how to change it are endless. Here are a few examples to get your mind going:
    • Rewrite the ending
    • Place the story in a modern setting
    • Tell the story from the villain’s perspective
    • Mix them all up in one tale
    • Change the characters’ personalities completely

As we all know, many fairy tales have children in them, but please remember the site rules about underage characters engaging in sexual activities. If your stories have children under the age of 16, they may not be sexually active.

    Now, the rules:
    • This will be another anonymous competition. As CAW host, I will be more than willing to send replies on your behalf to your story, as the previous hosts did. Just send a PM to CAW SOP with the details and I’ll post it.
    • You may not, in any way, self-promote your story in public or private, though you may, of course, have a proofreader to help you.
    • Deadline: You have until 2 August 2014 to write your story and submit it to CAW SOP. PM CAW SOP when your story is done and I’ll send a reply with the email address. Please remember that not all word processing programs are the same. I will try my best to make sure no errors slip in when I post. If they do, I have the assurance of some of the mods that they will be more than happy to assist in fixing any errors that slipped in after posting. Just send a PM to CAW SOP.
    • You may write alone, or, if you wish, send in joint entries with other members.
    • No sexually active characters under the age of 16. This is a site rule, as I’m sure you know.
    • In order to vote, you must comment on each submission. These comments may not be copied and pasted into all stories. Authors participating in this CAW are not required to comment. All authors appreciate comments and we will help them reply to any questions asked or remarks made by the readers.
    • All members are allowed to write a story. You may submit up to three stories, but each has to be original. It may not be part of a series. You may not submit a story that you have published elsewhere. Long-time members and new authors are encouraged to participate.
    • The name of your tale should not be the same as the original story – For example, if you rewrite Cinderella, don’t name your story Cinderella. There is always the possibility of two people picking the same story and rewriting it in their own way. Here is an example of what your title should look like: “CAW 20: The Girl who lost her shoe.”
    • Please include a sentence or two as part of an introduction, or the original title and author of the fairy tale to identify your story. If you wish, you may include one picture with your entry, or a YouTube link, and/or a link to the story you chose.

More information will be given about the reading period and voting when we draw closer to the time. It depends on the number of stories posted.

A big thank you to ejls for all her help and hard work - the assistance she has already given me, and the future help I'm sure I'll need.

Now, the best of luck to all the authors. May it go well with your writing!

Hmm. So Little Red Riding Hood joins up with the Big Bad Wolf, and together they go after the Three Little Pigs to get pork to serve at the Prince's ball where Cinderella loses her slipper, but the Fairy Godmother is really that damn witch with the apples, and the coachmen are The Seven Dwarves.

    Good. I'm ready.

Good job DT, that's what you get for not reading fairy tales :) Honestly, I think I know like 6, 7 of them, on top of my mind, and the difference in writing skills would be huge. Anyhow, I do think it's a nice theme, so I'll try to find a fitting story, and rewrite it if I get a good idea. Good luck to all.

Not quite. Legends, myths, and fairy tales are all various types of folklore, most of which have been passed down through generations. Legends are usually based on some sort of historical fact and have had their characters or events embellished over the tellings and retellings. Fairy tales generally have some sort of fantastic element, and might feature magic, imaginary creatures, and often a conflict between sides that are clearly good and evil. A myth has its basis in religion.

A myth is a story that can sometimes be rooted in historical fact, but more often deals with supernatural beings, gods, demigods, and the explanation of natural phenomenon. Stories that explain religious beliefs are often myths; they explain the cultural and religious views of a society. Many of the Greek myths envelop all or most of these traditions. The stories of the Greek gods and heroes not only explain natural phenomena like the changing of the seasons, sunrise and sunset, and weather, but they also give insight into some of the things that were most important to the civilization as a whole. Many myths were, at one time or another, believed to be true, but one defining characteristic of a myth is that there is no way to verify the claims made within it.

A fairy tale is a story that has elements of the fantastic, whether it be magic or creatures like leprechauns and gnomes that we know don’t really exist, even though the stories themselves can sometimes be presented as historic fact. Many fairy tales have undergone an evolution; they have been toned down for more recent generations, losing much of the grim, bloody, and oftentimes downright disturbing aspects that they once had. Now, the tale of Cinderella rarely has the elements of self-mutilation that it once did, and modern retellings of Snow White lack the psychological depth, gory details, and even assassination attempts that can be found in the older versions of the story. Fairy tales often have a very clear-cut good vs. evil storyline., often telling stories of supernatural beings or creators, and usually explaining some sort of natural phenomenon.

You know that I do not write so my question was just for clarification of what could possibly have been an issue with another writer's tack.

I anticipate reading the offerings and knowing that ejls is thinking seriously about entering again is TOTALLY exciting. The only bad part is that I know that I will not be getting an HP fairy tail as well.

Damn it WSF you just gave away the plot to the story I was going to write!!!

All kidding aside I really like the premise of this CAW. The hard part is going to be choosing which one.

Good luck to everyone I guess the race is on.

When I first saw this, I thought, hmmm...I would have LOVED to write a biopic-type story on Andrew Dice Clay, maybe even first-person POV. For those of you who don't know him...

    Little Miss Muffet,
    Sat on her tuffet,
    Eating her curds and whey.
    Along came a spider,
    Sat down beside her,
And said "Hey, what's in the bowl, bitch?"

Jack and Jill went up the hill,
Both with a buck and a quarter.
    Jill came down with two-fifty,
    That fuckin' slut.

Little Boy blew...he needed the money.

Was an old lady she lived in a shoe, she had so many kids her uterus fell out.

    Mary, Mary, quite contrary,
Trim that pussy, it's so damn hairy.

    Old Mother Hubbard,
    Went to the cubbard,
To get her old dog a bone.
    She bent over...
    Rover took over
She got a bone of her own.

He made a good living doing naughty nursery rhymes!

But, that's not gonna' fly for this CAW, so, I'll look around, but I'm definitely in. Looks like there could be some really fun stories with this one!

It's the sort of thing that has been done before:
I did it twice in CAWs 4 and 14, JAT also did it in 4, BlackRonin also in 14, and you dear Pixy have yourself in 18; I also know of fairytales on the story site side... a Cinderella one and quite a few more.
I'm not saying its not of interest to me... just have to make sure that I don't self plagiarize or tread on other authors toes.
Not to mention a shit ton of other authors Snow, Glass, Apples by Gaiman plus many more; Or the shit ton of TV or movies of recent years where this is a common place theme (Malificent, Snow White and the Huntsman, Once upon a Time).

I went on Librivox and did a search for Fairy tales and came up with quite a lot. So I'll be listening to a lot of them for inspiration for a while.

I thought this might help out anyone who is stuck and does not wish to do a 'classical' (snow white, sleeping beauty, etc) style of fairy tale.

There are some on the list which are classical fairy tales from other lands, especially the modern Middle East.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fairy_tales

If you lack for inspiration, consider one source in example: The Arabian Nights.

In it you have 1001 tales to inspire the imagination.

Edit added - Just for the record, and for what its worth, my topics are already chosen. Though it is still six weeks away, I look forward to the reading phase.

Oh, I suspect that when you saw this theme posted, your eyes lit up a bit, you had a short intake of breath, and throughout the valley/mountains/desert/fruited plains/etc. where you live, there was a resounding "YESSSSSSS!!!!!!" that shook the very foundations of structures for mile. :)

What a splendid theme for a challenge! :)

There are so many possibilities - one could tell a tale in the style of the old stories, update it into modern language, or even transplant the tale into a modern setting. As a reader I'm hoping to get a selection of all of those. As a writer I shall try to get an entry together, but I have so little time to sit at the computer nowadays that I fear, as with the previous CAW I may not be able to complete my tale in time.

Nevertheless, let the writing commence! This should be a good one.

Incidentally, I love that pic in the OP, brilliant!
