Department of Defense drops "Operation Faithful Patriot" title from military border mission

The U.S. military mission at the Mexican border will no longer be called "Operation Faithful Patriot," according to officials.

The formerly named "Operation Faithful Patriot" is a deployment of nearly 5,200 troops, who joined 2,000 troops already stationed at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Pentagon spokesman Lt. Col. Jamie Davis said in a statement on Wednesday that while the Defense Department was dropping the name, the operation was still named and still ongoing.
Davis said the operation will now be referred to as "border support."

No reason was given for the change in name or for the timing.

Gen. Terrence O'Shaughnessy, the commander of the U.S. Northern Command and North American Aerospace Defense Command, announced the decision on Oct. 29 at a news conference, calling the deployment "Operation Faithful Patriot" for the first time.

Its intent was to "harden the points of entry" along the border, O'Shaughnessy said.

The troops at the border are a mix of active duty, reserve and National Guard forces and are supporting thousands of border patrol agents already deployed to the area.

The disappointment is that any American would support or encourage this kind of attack on our sovereignty.

 

How exactly is someone going through the legal process to request asylum an attack on your sovereignty (btw you do not have a sovereign anymore!)?

Early on in this debate despicables were shouting that Trump was making a political issue out of the caravans to help with 2018. They spewed that the caravan was thousands of miles away, and the military were not needed because most of the 1,500 migrants in the first caravan would never make it to our border. They pooh pooed the idea that the caravans were organized by someone with some kind of agenda; that the caravans were spontaneous reactions to poor conditions in their home countries.

Basically, they were saying ignore the caravans, they are not an issue, and cause ............. trump.

Well.

Two days ago, 300 migrants from the initial caravan made it to Tijuana. Another 1,200 to 1,500 have shown up since. Over 3,000 are expected in the next week. Some are camping out, waiting for their turn to ask for asylum, but the reality is, they'll be camped out there for weeks or months until the border patrol can handle their requests. Others are already climbing the wall west of Tijuana, entering the US illegally. An unknown other number have split off and are seeking other ways (legal and illegal) to enter the US.

Here's the reality. These caravans (last reports said there are 4 of them with a total of over 7,000 migrants) are not spontaneous. They are an organized effort to overwhelm our border patrol and literally invade the United States. Shooter does not know who organized this or why, but it is certainly not in the best interests of the US.

Those familiar with immigration law and process know that seeking asylum is done one of two ways; by going to the nearest embassy in your home country and asking for asylum, or seeking asylum after crossing the first border one comes to. It is not normal nor does it make a smattering of sense to trek thousands of miles, dangerous miles, to apply for asylum in a country that clearly does not want more ILLEGAL immigrants.

Those saying in effect, let them come, it don't mean nothing, are either ignoring the reality of the situation, or are in full support of open borders. Or, Cause ................. Trump.

President Trump saw this issue for what it is early on; an organized attempt to violate American Sovereignty. He acted appropriately calling it for what it was. If he had done nothing, Shooter fully believes that the despicables would be shouting that he failed to protect our security, that he should have sent troops to the border, and he should have paid attention to the problem rather than play golf or campaign.

Of those 3,000 or so migrants who trekked from central America to our southern border, maybe a few hundred will be granted entry while their asylum claims are evaluated. The rest will be shipped back to their home country, accomplishing nothing and being worse for the effort, or they will manage to sneak past our border and enter the US until they are caught and sent home.

The villains in this drama are the organizers who convinced 7,000 or so migrants and their dependents to trek thousands dangerous of miles to make a political statement. Migrants who have no means of supporting themselves and who, if they get into the country, will become just another burden on our resources.

Any American who would support the migrant caravans, or at least not support President Trump's actions, are being disloyal and/or incredibly stupid.

 

President trumps assertion that these caravans are full of criminals and a threat to our country couldn’t be farther from the truth. The fact of the matter is they are full of desperate men women and children that are in need of our help. And it is despicable that we are turning them away. There is a humanitarian crisis south of the border that our once great nation is turning a blind eye to.
