CAW 27 - The Reading Phase

Much to my delight, we had 11 entries to this challenge! There were a number of others who wanted to write but couldn't get an entry submitted in time, and to them I say please try again for CAW 28!

Okay, after review of the entries, I see that none of them are fifty thousand words, so there are no books to read. With that in mind, you will be given 14 days to read the entries. That's slightly less than one entry per day. No one should have too much difficulty with this. Voting instructions will come later. While they haven't been finalized, I would recommend that you pick out three stories from the 11 that standout to you.

The entries have been posted. This is a list of them. For those wondering about the order in which they were posted, and the order in which they are listed here...I took the titles and put them into a randomizer formula and did it four times, and this was the result...totally random!

I encourage those of you who read the stories to place comments on them. Constructive criticism is welcomed by our authors.

Boogity, boogity, boogity - let's get reading!!!!!!


Ooops - NASCAR on the brain.

 

Butterclit's Baby has been posted twice. You should probably put a note somewhere on which one should the readers comment on (though it should be pretty obvious which) and stuff like that.

 

I had an entry based on one of @Little Miss K 's previous entries, but sadly I did my usual trick of excessive prevarication until the deadline finally whooshed past me. I would like to publicly apologise to her for letting her down, and to our co-hosts who would have had another entry for this interesting compy. I shall endeavour to complete it at some future point.

In the meantime well done and good luck to all the authors who have entered, let's get reading!

 

As @Phoebe X asks, "4th of July" doesn't say which story it was based on, which makes it difficult to judge it as a sequel. Also "Valley Girl" doesn't say who the author of the original story was, which is important as it's me.

 

Let's get reading folks. I can't wait to see how my story does. Of course, since I wrote under a pen name, or a "sock" as some people around here call it, my story will have to remain anonymous for now. But after the voting, I may emerge from the shadows.

I hope I don't get too many down votes.

 

I have only scanned a couple of the entries so far. It looks like we have some good reading ahead of us. 11 entries is nothing to be ashamed of. I thought it might turn out better than some were worried about.

Great theme @ejls and @ahorsewithnoname. Going to grab some lunch, and try to get some reading done this afternoon.

The note is the first post in the story thread after the story. The correct story is the one that is linked in this thread's initial post.

 

I just looked at who wrote the stories being sequeled. Our hosts wrote almost half of them, @ejls wrote four of them and @ahorsewithnoname another one. Is that pandering to the judges, or just they've won a lot.

Interestingly, one story, Cherry Falls, got two sequels for @DarkThunder.

Then three of us got one each.

There's one undeclared, I suspected Toucan for that, but it's using @ahorsewithnoname 's April fools opening, so maybe Horse.

 

A bit of both possibly - our hosts are the two most successful CAW entrants, with good reason as they write excellent stories. It figures that their stories would be at the forefront of the minds of those entering the compy. I certainly looked at the previous stories of both @ejls and @ahorsewithnoname when I was thinking about an entry.

I also thought the same as you @tonybs about "4 Of July" but it can't be Horsey, he cannot enter under the rules of the challenge.

 

The hosts get to police the rules, I could see them entering a joke, they can make sure it doesn't win. Horse said he was writing a non-entry, but it's not otherwise in evidence.

 

Ha, and no one wrote a story based off of what I had planned if I actually had time to write.

 

Correct. My non-entry, based on Embracing Autism Gleefully, never got written.

 

Okay some one fill me in on what's going on? I take two months off and half the people disappear?
I suspect the usual suspects have been pissing in their favourites coffee but I don't have time to read 800 threads to see where half of my favourite people have disappeared to. Any Skinner or enlightenment will be welkom.

 

Thanks Horse and Ejls for organising and everyone who has written my the best story win!
Ps. I'll be back next week to read them.

 

Just an update:

I have read about half of the stories now. A few were based on stories that I was not familiar with, so I want to read both. Enjoying myself so far.

Just dropping by to say hi I planned on participating at first, but at the end didn't manage to come up with an entry. Regardless, I'll see to read the entries, since I love the idea of the sequels.

 

I'm just now finding time to read and comment.

Though the original story is not up for any vote, nor is it being judged, I am going to make a small comment on it also. My reviews will all look something like this..
