I'm glad ya'll are having some fun with my story. That really was the intention. A bunch of sex, of course, but also some humor and arcs that could lead to a second story.

Oh, and I screwed up above when I was talking about having two polls. What I meant to type was have one poll in the traditional manner, one vote, and NOT anonymous, and then a second poll that is different...could be one vote and anonymous or multi-vote, or whatever. I didn't mean to type one vote AND anonymous. Just to clear that up.

 

Again I ask; if anonymous, wouldn't an author use his/her one vote to vote for their own story? With the 3 votes this wasn't a big deal, but does it become so now? We are on a porn site, so don't ask us to be magnanimous (somebody ask Clarise if I spelled that correctly).

Well, if people use their one vote to vote for their own story, they can (at the least) be assured of one vote. In this regard, I bet almost all the stories will have, at least, one vote and we will have to rely on non-writers and socks to decide the outcome of the poll.

The above will not apply to people with multi-entries because they will only be able to vote for one of them.

As in the past, you can post on the poll thread and tell everyone which story you voted for and why. I always find that interesting. In that way losing your anonymity is strictly voluntary.

In the polls I have always voted for a story that wasn't mine... I always though that it should be the story I liked the best not the story I wrote. But then I think my writing is crap to begin with so... maybe I have a skewed perspective.

 

To keep you updated on what I have (up until now) and to place the stories all in an easy to read location. I am going to post what has been submitted as of this time. I will update the thread from time to time.

If you ask those who have posted a Caw7 entry on the site up until now you will learn that I have given only positive votes to all those I have read. NOT ONE NEGATIVE VOTE SINCE I JOINED! Thank you Onehandedtypist for your 4 negative votes. You really are showing everyone what a classy guy you are considering I gave you 4 votes for the last 4 or 5 pieces of tat you published. Why should I worry? I'm going to vote down my own story so I can get on the lowest rated list. At least there it'll get read.

 

I would vote for someone else's story, in my mind it's not like we are electing a public official... we are picking the most creative fuck here, while I am a creative fuck, some people paint a better picture than I can.

I invite you please to go look at my stories and figure out how many negative votes I have on any of them... Some of them have as many at 500 votes and I have a 90 odd percentile... CJ. I'm trying to be nice. I just wanted to point out that one of us seems incapable of accepting that an attempt to out another member of the group didn't work and he is now trying to get me to react by voting down one of my stories. It isn't going to work but it shows a lack of class on his part. It even shows use of tactics the abominable WGF would have used and we all know where that got him.

 

He's on ignore, so I am playing nice. I didn't like his story so I voted truthfully.

God forbid someone dislikes a story. William is rearing his ugly head again.

 

So you didn't like the story. Well okay. You voted against it and that's your decision and your right. However I don't want to hear nasty comments if at some time in the future I decide to vote against one of your poems. I thought there had been enough discussion here about how authors should leave comments if they don't like a story to help the writer improve but don't vote against it. I don't even know what you didn't like about it.

 

By the way, who is the 'he' who is on ignore? I'm ignoring nobody unless you are referring to my not responding to the utter garbage you, Clarice and others were posting on the 'fireworks' thread. When there is a post which interests me I shall reply to it but I shall not post just for the sake of increasing my post count.

In the 6 CAWs I believe only one writer has ever voted for their own story.

 

I've been getting a lot of PM's from people who feel anonymous voting and one vote will not lead to more votes but rather votes for just the writer's own story by the writer. For that reason I am back to considering multiple votes for everyone. The troll issue is moot because people can't vote against a story but only FOR it. The only way to try and vote against a story is to vote for all stories EXCEPT one story. That won't work because someone else will vote for that story and maybe omit one or two others. Either way the cream should still rise to the top and there should be a whole lot more votes cast.

Whatever, it won't hurt the CAW Challenge ideal to give this concept a try and see what happens. If it works, it works and, if it doesn't, a return to the open, one vote system will return for CAW8.

 

I've always considered it kind of bad taste to vote for your own work. Nor do I consider it a given that everyone will necessarily always believe their own work to be the best; a short film I did won an award the other night (see how I just slipped that in there? Shameless) and I couldn't have been more surprised because, honestly, there were two others nominees that I would have said were better. You can't ever be totally objective about your own work, that much is true, but that goes both ways.
