This is actually becoming a disaster as they are almost halfway through the count and the LP has a 17 seat lead but a minority government doesn't do the country ANY favors so other than a new tenant in 10 Downing, it was an exercise in futility and the trailing party's don't have near enough seats to help form a coalition government to shut the CP down ...

 

Funny thing is I am watching one slaughter here on one computer and another slaughter in the NHL playoff game on the other as the Pens are taking the Preds apart 6-0 LOL.

 

Labour + SNP have currently a 36 seat lead. If it goes on like this, they'll have a very comfortable majority.

Hell Trump is officially campaigning for president right now. And you guys can settle these things in a couple months. And nobody even gets killed over he deal.

Honestly AyaLaRoux this all makes such simple logical sense when you say it. Its like duh why didn't we ever think of this? And the only thing I can figure is you folks in the UK and Europe are actually about 500 years ahead of us. So who knows in another 500 years or so maybe we can figure it out too.

There are right now 23 fringe seats that could throw a wrench into those plans though depending on which way they will lean ...

 

The one thing I did ask when May called for elections was if that was a smart move or a dumb move by May. And the answer I got was it was a gamble. And a big gamble that has a lot riding on it. And I just assumed she had it in the bag. So count me as surprised she rolled the dice and lost.

So thanks for giving us the inside track on what is happening. And thank you for schooling me. But I only got my student loans paid off a few years ago. Am I going to get a bill for this?

 

Sure, they're both social democratic parties.

She saw the polls and thought it would be an easy win. Then she ran the worst campaign anyone ever could've run, while Corbyn had the campaigning of his lifetime. And on top of that, I think people have had second thoughts about the whole Brexit fiasco, and certainly wouldn't want the "hard Brexit" route she was pursuing.

Bottom line is that May is toast ...

 

Half the seats are in and Labour keeps having a 14 - 20 seats lead. Together with SNP, that's more than 40 seats over the Tories.

 

Here is a potential "wrench" for the SNP ... I am looking to see if Nicola Sturgean held her riding ???

The SNP's deputy leader, Angus Robertson, has lost his seat to the Scottish Conservatives.

Douglas Ross of the Tories overturned a majority of 9,065 to defeat Mr Robertson by 4,200 votes in Moray.

The seat had been a key target for the Conservatives in Scotland, with the Tories desperate to defeat the SNP's Westminster leader.

The SNP's Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh has also lost Ochil and South Perthshire to the Tories, who were third in 2015.

The Conservatives have won seven seats from the SNP so far, with Labour winning six.

Labour only has a 6 seat lead now so it is getting more interesting by the minute and those 27 fringe seats are looming large ...

 

Let's just hope the end result is actually decisive.

Right now in particular , the last thing Britain needs is instability , and or a questionable mandate.

They need a leader who can take action , quickly , and without fear of more major disruption ,
not one who has to pussyfoot around counting heads before making decisions ,
or negotiate with unwilling opposition to arrive at unsatisfactory compromises.

 

And this is just so cynical I am having to self reflect. But it just seemed obvious to me that after the terrorist attacks it would be a landslide for May and the conservatives, the nationalists and maybe the neo-Nazis. Color me happily amazed and hopeful for the rest of us.

The SNP gained hugely in the last election (from 6 seats to 56) so they stood to lose a few of those again. It's still one of the best results they ever had.
