I love that passage.

 

They pray to god to help them win, but the same prayer is asking god to make the other team lose, not really a christian tenet.

 

As much as I despise John Milton and Paradise Lost I think he did come up with the best formula for prayer because I've tried this and it works.

Once again I say I am so happy we have the BBC, damn it, even Channel 5 news outweighs Fox in the integrity business. We are so spoilt over here.

 

Sadly I am forced to agree. The only other news source I've found that rivals the BBC is Al Jazeera and I have to admit that while both of them are in a way government sponsored (or in Al Jazeera's case benefactor sponsored) only the BBC seems to have total independence.

But the US news media has simply abandoned any pretense of actual news reporting and instead alternates between informercials promoting business and rank sensationalism.

 

Stumbler's right. I've all but given up on US news sources. There's nothing worth watching even for entertainment value -- Fox News and MSNBC both just piss me off anymore.

 

You seriously think Al Jazerra isn't full of shit? Have you even watched it before?

 

I guess it all depends on who is paying the wages as to which way they lean.

And the best thing about the Beeb is the effect it has on the commercial channels news coverage. ITN, C4, C5 and even Sky News all attempt to maintain a neutral stance because thats the expectation of the UK public from TV news. Print journalism is a different matter though.
