One thug’s gambit for a quick and easy robbery went horribly awry when he discovered, the hard way, that he picked the wrong man to try to victimize.

In a video capturing a surprisingly non-violent ordeal from September 2013, a man entered a liquor store in Marionville, Missouri, smoking a cigarette.

He had big plans for his time in-store, but he didn’t realize that he was about to interact with former military police officer Jon Lewis Alexander, as Huff Post reports.

The thief’s plans didn’t come to fruition, as you can see below in a clip shared by Awesome Fun Videos.

“I pulled my weapon up and put it against his mouth and told him ‘You need to get out of here before I blow your — head off,’ and he backed right on out the door,” Alexander recalled in an interview after the incident.

Note the move Alexander makes in the video to keep the other man’s gun out of his face. This clerk played this exactly right.

Attempting to rob a store, bank, you-name-it is always a pretty dumb idea. There’s no reason for anyone to risk their lives in the pursuit of some quick cash.

But robbery is especially dumb when you try to take on an armed veteran.

It’s a small miracle that the thug survived the incident at all — which is both a testament to the poor guy’s luck and the cool, collection, and calm of Alexander.

He knew he had the bad guy dead to rights, and the bad guy knew it too.

Alexander was just too tough.

I am surprised there is no harsher gun laws in place. The time is NOW for the violence to cease and become non-existent. Im surprised they are still around, there has to be a way for these harmful items to leave the hands of criminals. It can't just be about money. Money can be printed and handed out. However the guns have to be made, passed out and bought. Unfortunately they fall into the wrong hands in both the black and public markets. Hopefully one day the guns will be non-existent or better yet, very hard to get.

November 15, 2017 - Latest Massacre Drives Gun Control Support To New High, Quinnipiac University National Poll Finds; Voters Reject GOP Tax Plan 2-1 h

In the wake of another massacre, American voters today support 95 - 4 percent, including 94 - 5 percent among voters in households where there is a gun, universal background checks for gun purchases, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released today.

This is the highest level of support for universal background checks since the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University Poll first asked this question in February 2013, in the wake of the Sandy Hook massacre.

American voters support 65 - 31 percent a nationwide ban on the sale of assault weapons, also a new high. Voters in gun households support a ban 51 - 43 percent.

Voters support 60 - 36 percent stricter gun laws and a number of specific gun measures:

• 91 - 7 percent for a ban on the sale of guns to people convicted of a violent crime;
• 62 - 34 percent for stricter regulation of ammunition sales;
• 74 - 24 percent for a ban on gun modifications that can make a gun work more like a fully automatic weapon.

It is too easy to buy a gun in the U.S., 59 percent of American voters say. But only 37 percent say the ease of buying guns is the bigger cause of mass shootings, while 52 percent say the bigger reason is because it's too difficult to get mental health care.

Stricter gun laws would help prevent mass shootings, 34 percent of voters say, as 62 percent say shooters would find a way around stricter gun laws and commit these crimes anyway.

"With each American gun massacre, there is stronger voter support for tighter gun control measures," said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

"But the cynical view prevails. Stricter laws will do no good whatsoever in a country with more guns than people."
