I guarantee you a lot of people know exactly what I'm talking about. The example we see held up as the "modern male" constantly is a weak-voiced beta male who is average in every way yet grandstands and tries to talk/act big. Yet anybody who calls that out like I'm doing has to deal with people like you who don't like it. Oh well. I don’t know, but I was raised to accept all and love is love and that is that. I do live in the SF Bay Area one of the most LBGTQ community friendly areas so I have a lot of friends and neighbors who are LBGTQ.

Yes the term is thrown around too easily. Maybe there's a better term that could be used. That being said there's a difference between chosing not to interact with someone because of something you dislike about them and actively discriminating against someone for that same reason.

You don't have to like homosexuals, and if you choose to not befriend them that's your thing. Surely though you'd agree that it's wrong to promote hatered of people based on their sexuality?

 

Unless of course their sexuality is centred around children then hatred is full deserved. As far as disliking a homosexual just because of their sexuality, that I’ve never understood.

Long interesting thread. I'm finding myself sympathizing with @BeatItUpRight feelings. I find him to be respectful of gay/bi/men. He just cannot be comfortable around the guys who act decidedly gay, having those feminine overtones to their demeanor. We all recognize the speech and actions which make us believe "That person is a gay guy and he's making an obvious show of it." I understand that.

If I were around guys that bleed machismo, smack talk, hunting, fishing, guns & ammo, leering at women, cat-calls, grabbing their crotch when a woman walks by, et cetera, all in an effort to display their pure masculinity - well that's not a comfortable crowd to be in for many 100% straight guys much less those of us with less masculine purity.

It's the exaggeration, the over the top image that's odd and unnecessary. A guy can be flamboyantly gay. A guy can be flamboyantly macho. At some point it is only an act for others to view.

Depends. Some people have a direct disconnect between sexual relations and romantic feelings. There are people who are asexual, but still like being in relationships. I have a disconnect with my one night stands. I'd never date a guy in his 40s, but I still enjoy fucking them. For a lot of people, you need romantic feelings to be fully "gay" or "straight".
