While members of Anonymous aren't planning on inventing the internet, they are planning on destroying it – supposedly ...

The DDOS campaign is expected to target the world's 13 domain name servers (DNSs), that allow the public to use the internet by translating human legible text-string URLs into machine-readable IP addresses. If the attack indeed materializes and if the DNS servers are all taken down, the Mayan apocalypse could come early -- the internet could blink offline. – DailyTech

 

No I haven't seen anything else on this yet and don't even know if its possible but while I haven't publicly condemned Anonymous yet I will if they try to fuck with my internet access.

Even if I have to write a letter to do it.

 

It certainly would demonstrate our dependence on the net.

For example, I personally have about 20 more hours (minimum) work I MUST do on-line this weekend (I've already done about 3 today and I have about 3 more to finish before the end of the day---after I sign out of XNXX in a few minutes)---before Monday morning.

If the internet is completely "destroyed", I will not be personally fucked (you can't do what you can't do), but it will certainly put a major monkey wrench in MY schedule for the next two weeks at least.

 

Well they are doing it on the weekend if at all but I have been getting warning letters to have cash on hand if a cyber attack took down banking for a while...

I would also be pissed as I think ATT U-Verse my TV is Internet based.

I don't think it will happen but HELL, it could I guess.

No it is not.....The notorious hacker group Anonymous is behind it as a way to rebel over new Internet laws.

 

Alright....this is the first I have heard about it....but if that DOES happen...whew because of the worlds reliance on the internet shit could REALLY hit the fan....

 

Actually the Y2k Could have never happened because that's just dumb! However a group of already "tested" Hacker's who proclaim to launch a ddos attack is VERY plausible.


If they *the anons* go through with it I think that they seriously misjudged how welcome they are in this world.. I mean what's the quickest way to piss off someone? Take away their entertainment.. Beside's it would be more than hypocritical.. and ironic at that.. " We want the internet to be for everyone... but guess what we have the off key" < that of course is speculation and hold's no actual value as a line of sensibility

 

If that happened, wouldn't Anonymous be out of a job?

What's the bet that this planned action gets delayed until just after midnight on 31st March, so everyone involved can say "April Fool.."

 

They are only taking down the DNS servers which as the article stated will remove the ablity to type in "Xnxx.com" the internet will still be there however it will be an ip based search to get to a website instead of the alphabet.. In this case copy this IP 69.55.53.6 and then close your browser and then paste it instead of typing xnxx.com. and viola we no longer have to worry about figuring out how to not loose our xnxx

question...will a bookmark work to get to a URL?

 

I dont know much about anything however the way the internet worked before it was famous was off of IP addresses so they made the Domain Name Servers so that people could easily get to a website and shwat not. I don't think a book mark will work however I simply have no idea.

 

fair enought but maybe the domain name ties into the URL code number....

 

Bookmarks do work on IPs, not that this will actually happen.
