The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I think some people have forgotten what the Pledge says.
We used to stand up and repeat it every day in school.
Not many school do that today.
It is understandable that many people do not remember the words.

A republic (Latin: res publica) is a form of government in which the country is considered a "public matter",
not the private concern or property of the rulers.

The primary positions of power within a republic are not inherited, but are attained
    through elections
expressing the consent of the governed.

Maybe we are not a republic.
Many of the political offices in the U.S. are inherited.
The only experience need is married to, son of , daughter of, relative of a former or active office holder.

Spin it in any manner you wish...

The U.S. federal fucking government is a Constitutional Republic form of government.

    1. slutwolf
      No spin required , lol.
The US is indeed a constitutional
      republic.
      No about it ;

      constitutional
      kɒnstɪˈtjuːʃ(ə)n(ə)l/
      adjective
      1. 1.
relating to an established set of principles governing a state.
        "a constitutional amendment

So we have established that the US is by definition , a democratic constitutional republic ,
      utilising a form of
      representative democracy
(much like Australia and New Zealand )
      of its own choosing .

In fact most of the worlds "democracies"
are representative democracies , though they differ in many ways as to how they are set up and work.

Is that the royal we ?
      :)
      Me , I haven't determined anything , I just go by definitions.
By definition , a republic is a democracy.
A republic with a constitution , is a constitutional republic.
All eligible citizens of your country have the right to vote in relative elections.
      That is democracy.
They vote for representatives to govern them , that is a representative form of democracy.

Because you and or others may not like how it's run , or things about it , doesn't change what it is.
As with all democracies , the results depend on how the people overall behave in their choices and voting , and if they don't like what's going on , then either they are in the minority , or the majority are not using their votes wisely.

If your system is failing, that is the fault of the people , whether through apathy , ignorance , laziness , corruption , or whatever combination of reasons.

The individual States are a democracy...they use a popular vote to decide l;egislative and administrative issues.

The federal fucking governemnt is a Constitutional Republic...the electoral college decides the POTUS, not the popular vote.

There is no debate about it, it's either you know it, or you dont

Yes , and I know it to.

Funnily enough , although I see we ,NZ , are listed in the top ten of world democracies ,
we also do not decide who the leader will be , except through "representatives" ,
      who we do vote for

the answer/reply will not fit here , so I'll continue in reply post #26

So , the US is a representative democracy , with a rather different system for picking the leader than
    us ,
and in fact could be argued , more democratic in some ways.
We vote in party members as our representatives ,
but have no direct input into who the party chooses as leader ,
and no direct input into when or how often they change the leader .

In fact we could wake up tomorrow morning and find today's leader is gone , finished , out.
Two leaders went almost that quickly during our last election , one exposed a minor criminal record , the other , basically because the party finally realised their leader was pretty much unelectable to the public. (that is they couldn't win with him as leader)

That is all decided by our representatives.
Hence , it is a representative democracy.

So the "fucking" US has a different system of representative democracy to ours.

    explanation:
(note , all decided by "citizens" voting)

The United States Electoral College is the mechanism established by the United States Constitution
    for the indirect election
of the president and vice president of the United States.

    " Citizens vote"
    in each state
    and the District of Columbia

at a general election to choose a slate of "electors"
    who are
    "pledged to vote"
    for a particular party's candidate.[1][2]

The Twelfth Amendment requires each elector to
    " cast one vote"
    for president and
    "another vote"
    for vice president.

and the recent results of that prescribed system of democratic representation:

Dave Wasserman of Cook Political Report has provided a spreadsheet with all the vote totals, which show that Clinton ended up beating Donald Trump by over 2.8 million votes.

Here are the final numbers via Wasserman:

    • Clinton: 65,844,610 (48.2%)
    • Trump: 62,979,636 (46.1%)
    • Others: 7,804,213 (5.7%)
So there you have it ,
complicated and a long drawn out circus it may be ,
but that in a nutshell ,
is the US system of representative democracy that chooses "fucking" US presidents.

And in your last "fucking" "presidential election"
    136,628,448
    people voted

I think you have President Trump confused with King Barry, who felt he didn't need Congress' approval on anything, such as:

    • The Iran nuclear deal
    • Paris Climate Accord
    • DACA / DAPA
    • UN Global Compact on Migration
    • Obamacare subsidies to insurance companies (ruled unconstitutional)
(There are more, but those are just the ones I could think of off the top of my head.)

Hell, he even tried to tell the Senate that he could decide that they were in recess, so he could do an end-run to appointments to the NLRB without worrying about Senate approval.

Some kings wear a crown. Others have "a pen and a phone."
