Kalling All Writers

Y'all know me...half screw loose, unpredictable, and two-time CAW Winner. I'm name this mini-competition the KAW because CAW, while not trademarked, is the brainchild of another author here, and this is completely unofficial, won't get stickied, and for all I know may fall flat on its face. But, I ran one other semi-official ".5" CAW way back as 8.5, so here goes nothing.

Rules

Rules? We do need no stinkin' rules. Actually, yes we do:

1. If you won a previous CAW, you are ineligible to post an entry that will get voted upon. You are free to post an entry, if you so desire, but it will not be entered into the official unofficial voting poll. So the following writers are not eligible: ejls, MrFors, smcaaphd, JaneyRedd, ELaken-Palmer, ahorsewithnoname (dang it), wantsomefun, Arizona1664/Minus Three, BlackRonin, JadeM, hornypixy. I hope that you will encourage those who have not won to participate, and that you will be supportive with comments in this thread. The only way it is going to stay at the top is active participation.

NOTE: If you have more than one account, and one of those accounts is an above-listed name, y'all can't enter either.

2. There will be no anonymity with this KAW. At the appropriate time, you will post the stories under your own screen name. This will allow you to respond to comments to your post right away vs. having to wait weeks or a month. Anonymity serves a purpose, but so does this.

3. Voting will be done with an open poll. I'm not planning on setting up a KAW SOP account, so, we'll just use a simple poll unless we get more than 25 entries, and then I'll fret and come up with Plan B. One entry per person.

4. The theme will be "no theme". Whhhhaaat? Seriously, this is going to be about writing a story that YOU want to tell, not me picking out something for you to write about. You may not use previous characters or a previously published story. Write something original. Have fun!

5. Start now. You will have a wee bet less than 6 weeks to write. Stories will start getting posted on Saturday, August 17th. They will be read for a two week span. Voting will go up the following weekend, so there will be an overlap between reading and voting of one week. The poll will close on the 31st, and the winner will be obvious...the one with the most votes!

Succinctly:

Writing Phase: Now until August 23rd

Reading Phase: Will start as early as August 17th for early posters

Voting Phase: Poll will go up August 24th

Winner: Midnight on August 31st

As always, write no story that will get you banned, blah blah. Void where prohibited by law. Discounts may or may not apply. Your mileage may vary. Blackout dates apply. For whom the bell tolls.

I've never entered a CAW because I'm not good with deadlines, but I'll probably try this.

Sorry to be the one to start this then but until Prurient Purveyor finds this thread it's going to have to be me...
The thing is this is even more open than WSF and HP's last one. Which was criticized for being somewhat without constraints. I won't knock it, after the fact it had many great entries but it was too open for me to get my teeth into it enough to come up with anything to write.

So if I finish my story that I'm working on during the time period I'll put it up. and enter it but I started it 4 weeks ago, or if that one is disqualified for being started before hand I'll put up on I started just now that mysteriously looks like it has four weeks of writing done on it already.

Here's an honest question not one I'm planning on but what about text and pics a la "The Gathering of 2012."(https://forum.xnxx.com/showthread.php?t=314950&highlight=gathering+2012) One of my projects in works was to turn an old story into that style, but that actually would be a redo and be disqualified but as a general question. Is that style allowed?

The beauty of it is if you finish anything new in the allotted time its eligible if I'm reading the rules right (granted sequels are excluded)

 

Miss Rachel, looking forward to the competition; I have two stories, each in the second-editing stage (most call this the 'oh my god I have to rewrite it all' stage)

After that is having them proofed, and then picking one to enter.

Redlust - I believe there will be no problems with a story you are working on; at least as I understand rule #4:

If per chance I am wrong I apologize in advance, and will have to adjust my own plans accordingly.

No matter what, any entry you make will be a worthy one. I've seen your work with the assassins and can only imagine what you and the others will enter when the time comes.

 

I could have made it so you had to write about Monica Lewinsky and Bill Clinton's first meeting. That would have been narrow. Instead, I'm saying, hey, your best effort, your best story, your best whatever, go for it. No one should be able to complain because I'm not trying to invade your mind. I'm saying if you have an idea, write it and submit it.

If you started it 14 years ago, and finished it 14 years ago, but didn't publish it...it qualifies. So, you're good.

Would be kinda' rude of me to not allow it considering I won a CAW in that style with The White. So yeah, it's fine.

Or anything you've done ever, so long as you haven't published it before. Not that I'm gonna' do a Google search. It's the honor system.

The haters are a sad sad breed. They are usually talentless, selfish little morons who have no skill, talent or friends. I pity them!

I am currently plotting several stories for this. I want to do my style to something unusual. Not sure yet, thinking maybe a celebrity thing. Am I OK to use a celebrity in a story if I have already used that celebrity before in a completely unrelated story??

 

What a nice idea Horsey! A little unofficial offshoot of the compy, and one to encourage new participants. Splendid, what a jolly wheeze!

Despite the fact that I'm disqualified already I would encourage anyone who has fancied a go at a compy in the past but has not entered for one reason or another really ought to have a go at this one.

Although my time on-line is very limited by the long hours and lengthy commutes I go through six days a week I'd like to volunteer my help to any entrants who'd like a bit of advice/proofing/editing. As I said, my time is very limited but I will give whatever help I can, if asked.

I wouldn't presume to speak for anyone else, but it might be a nice gesture if some of us from the CAW Winners Circle could each spend a little time helping entrants for this lovely little sideshow, if they have the time to spare.

 

I would heartily encourage all previous winners to post here and indicate their willingness to assist writers, be it mentoring, proofreading, being an idea soundboard, whatever.

Defninitely tempted, though I'll admit 6 weeks feels like a long time... If we finish well before then I take it we just sit on the story until the 17th?

I am only competition for myself. If you read my stories you would see without a good proofreader I would be completely useless.

I am so swamped with other writing right now. That finding the time to sleep is almost impossible. Though I absolutely love how my latest story is going. My father called chapter 4 intense. Yes I let my family read my writing.

I will look as we get closer to the date I may be able to put 20 or 25 thousand words together.
