To all that are so quick to judge harshly the actions and words of others when in the context of your own posts and threads I see no sainthood in the future, try not to be such judgmental douches. We all basically agree on the creepier sides of the sex world such as molesting children and animals, but when somebody comes here with an issue looking for help or guidance. If you have nothing to offer, but condescension and childish argumentative behavior then your the one who needs to listen, thoroughly read their statement and maybe learn something about adult relationships before writing posts.

Sure we all are entitled to our opinion which shouldn't mean jacking up a perfectly interesting thread arguing when everyone (except you) knows your acting like a complete idiot with no clue of the context in which the original poster had intended his thread. I tip my hat to those who have more questions then answers unless the answers are insightful and informative, otherwise your just trying to fuck it up for the rest of us! This site is full of them; case and point above. Unfortunately, the anonymity of the forum gives those with weak egos a chance to feel superior by putting down others. Classic bullying, really.

I dislike contention, and threadjacking, and getting into personal disputes; I know, I was in one of the recent ones that this post is very applicable to, but I really hate that I let myself go there! Sometimes I'll get so upset I lose sleep and can't concentrate at work...and that's not worth it at all.

I want to come here for fun, and information-sharing. That's what I've always enjoyed about this forum. The regulars here are, for the most part, interesting, entertaining, thoughtful, experienced, and often very funny. I think many of us who keep coming back really do further discussions, provide useful information when answering questions, and have the best interests at heart for the people who are serious about what they ask and what they do. (As for those who come here looking for self-serving answers and are inconsiderate to their partners and want to do things that will harm people - the resounding criticism from all of us gives me the warm fuzzies.)

For me personally, it really is important to prevent the spread of misinformation about sex and BDSM, and to emphasize the reality that people often don't expect or consider when they want to put a fantasy into action. And I think it's also important to let people know that things they might be concerned about or not sure they want to do can be positive and enjoyable for some people.

That's really why I'm here.

And I appreciate that so many of you are also here for that. I wouldn't be here all the time if I didn't enjoy your company! (For the most part.)

As well I would never encourage anyone to not defend their selves or others when attacked @VenusInFurze but I dream of a new paradigm where the antagonists are literally ignored! In teaching self defense the first thing my students learn is that all the arguing that escaltes into fighting in the world won't change the antagonist's behavior when all they are is just a child looking for attention! That their partners, lovers or parents didn't give them and to never be goated into a name calling match that only fuels their need for attention and angers us even further rather ignore them and they go away empty handed. @Hush does it to get a rise out of people that I find comically sadistic!

 

This is another complex subject. On the forum there are people i know and trust, there are people I find entertaining and a lot of people i do not know from Adam.
While I echo many of the OP's sentiments there must be a place for irreverency and comedy within Sexuality. Sometimes this irreverency is misconstrued and can accelerate into a dispute. Sometimes people get sensitive to certain words or phrases and sometimes fatigue can cause disputes.
I was the other protagonist in Venus's recent dispute and while i enjoy a slanging match every now and then it should not escalate or take too much time.
For the record Hush is one of the most entertaining people on our forum.

The web and forums are what they are. You're lucky if you can stumble across a place where you can have stimulated and constructive discussions on any topic without having someone making statements about how you don't know anything or shut the fuck up or how they know more etc.

The reality is. This is a fucking porn site. And with it comes a variety of people. Add to the fact there is relative anonymity to give themselves a handle and it's easy to become a keyboard commando.

And let's fact it, even out in the real world, there are assholes the drive or in public or at work. We are surrounded. And in comes cases, we even might be considered the asshole to others.

When I read shit that irks me or sets me off, I typically go find something else to do. Take a break. Return with a better frame of mind. And remember the serenity prayer. Lol. I may not be religious but, those words seem to get things right in most circumstances.

Some days you will resonate with people in a positive manner and other days, your gonna fall flat.

The simple, most effective thing to do is ignore that person and not respond to them. Everyone has their opinion's and their own motive for being on the forums. Unfortunately, there are some who just want to be ass holes and get a rise out of fucking with people. When you give them your time, they are winning because they got what they wanted out of you. Just move on and ignore

You can try and educate but at a certain point you have to ignore and move on. Talk to those who share your openness about sex and all it entails.

 

The frank discussions are a joy. I certainly try to be accepting and open with others. I don't think I've ever been downright mean here, damned uneducated, but not mean. However, we all know some threads that simply beg to be dissed a little and making a snarky, hopefully witty comment is warranted. I love the wit of so many here, it truly is what keeps me around (OK, the sex helps).

And if I believe that the question is serious , half of my reply will be serious. I can never be totally serious. And if someone
asks a question that was taught and learned in sex ed, I'm fuckin with them. There asking for our guidance and help with their issue. Guidance, doesn't that mean that their asking for our advice? Asking how we feel about it? Asking what our opinion on it is? So, are you telling us if we don't agree or have a different opinion that's not favorable not to say anything? If you think I had nothing to offer in my reply to your thread other than childish argumentative behavior and that I should listen. I would say "sorry I touched a nerve" but that nerve would have already been exposed without my knowledge and of course a bit sarcasm coupled with disagreement is healthy in any debate. However just being an asshole for asshole sake is much different of which I wouldn't put you even on my top ten list including the random trolls that pop out their heads from time to time. I appreciate your opinion of me, but might I add if being educated and intelligent is not being the regular person I am then what kind of phony would you have me be? I still believe in the adage "That if your the most intelligent person in your group of friends, your not learning and you need new friends"

 

You need to be careful with that word debate.......it got me into a lot of trouble earlier this week!

Disagreement is fine in an adult conversation and we are all products of our experiences and therefore our perspectives are all unique and equally valid. The random trolls are an issue but word gets around as to who they are (socks and all). What I find sad is when people I like decide to leave the forum because they have had enough of the vitriol.

My personal approach is if there is a post that offends me then I challenge it, with respect at first but get it out because grudges are just too heavy to carry around!

Another consideration, with respect to seemingly asinine questions on sexuality: This is a world wide forum. Some of us are lucky enough to have had sex education from parents, schools, etc. I believe, unfortunately, some of the OPs are genuinely asking for advice on topics we deem are common knowledge. They shouldn't be belittled IMHO.
