Alright, animation class.
I have to have a 15-30 second clip, in which one, no more than two actors are talking and moving around a fair amount.
And the actors have to have upper and lower body animation.

Anyone have any great ideas?

You will need 15-30 frames per second depending on the quality you want. An easy and free animation program is DAZ-3D (Digital Art Zone) which can produce fast rendered 3-d animation frames or highly detailed stills (I prefer to work with the latter - see my album for some examples). It also allows for dubbing of audio into the clip's timeline.

If you already have animation software or use standard animation you just need a short story concept and a script that fills in the time.

A favorite among starting animators is to use and existing music track for timing and choreograph a scene to it like a space duel between two ships. as your assignment calls for two interacting characters, perhaps a sword fight scene with the characters shouting insults at each other as they slash and parry. 'Sword Fight' is a generic term for this type of scene but the weapons are entirely up to your imagination and could be anything from clubs to sword vs. axe to a running shoot-out.

 

You're not going to be a very successful anything if you have to ask other people to come up with ideas that are supposed to be your own.
