Best part of that show. OMG did they get burned. Never saw it coming and swallowed it hook line and sinker. Just about ended the investigation or at least discredited it for a while. But too many hours and too many people willing to talk saved them.

You can scream Fake news over the 10% that isn't accurate. But it does not change the other 90%.

MSNBC’s Katy Tur: Rudy Giuliani’s lies are obvious when he starts ‘denying things no one has alleged’

MSNBC host Katy Turn couldn’t help but ask “what is going on,” during Monday’s “Meet the Press.” The comment came after a day of gaffes from President Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani, who Tur said is disputing accusations no one ever made.

“The president’s lawyer himself is denying the president himself hacked into the DNC and the Clinton campaign, which is strange because no one has accused the president of hacking into the DNC or the Clinton campaign,” she said at the top of Monday’s show.

She noted that Giuliani “is now denying that the president himself met with a group of Russians at Trump Tower, which is strange because no one has accused the president of meeting with a group of Russians at Trump Tower.”

Giuliani also denied there was a meeting to talk strategy ahead of the Trump Tower meeting, another thing no one ever alleged.

“So what the heck is going on?” she asked. “Well, the president’s lawyer is arguing that colluding with Russia isn’t a crime. Which is strange, because the president has been telling us for over a year now that there was not any collusion.”

“The president’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, is also arguing that there isn’t a single stitch of evidence of collusion,” she also observed. “Which is strange, because that’s just not true, and it’s even less true now than it’s ever been.”

She asked her political panel if the “bizarre string of claims” is a reaction to developments in the case, “which raise legitimate questions about collusion.” Giuliani is now alleging that Trump lied when he said he didn’t know his campaign met with Russia after being told the Russians had dirt on Hillary Clinton.

She also played a clip of Trump saying that anyone who hacked Hillary Clinton would be rewarded. The latest development in the case is that the Justice Department said that at least one persona created by Russian hackers was communicating with long-time Trump advisor Roger Stone.

And once again shootersa just makes shit up that is just laughable. There is absolutely no difference between what Bernstein and Woodward did during Watergate and the way reporters are working today. And what makes this so hilarious is when he says Woodward and Bernstein verified every fact with at least two reliable sources when today when it comes to Trump and the White House news outlets use anywhere from 2 to 30 sources.

Which is because the Trump administration leaks like a sieve. I have never seen a White House leak like this often just to stab Trump or other White House employees in the back

And they have also been incredibly accurate. With the added bonus of Trump and his administration calling the reports "fake news" or lies only to have the stories proven true a short time later.

This is a really stupid question. We know which stories are accurate because if a story proves inaccurate credible news outlets print and/or broadcast corrections or even retractions and tend to make those more prominent than the original story.

Which is something the right wing false propaganda noise machine rarely do even when their stories are proven to be outright lies.

Sean Hannity is the king of cable news in 2018. His was the most-watched regularly scheduled program on cable TV for the month of July, averaging 3.37 million viewers.

Furthermore, Hannity’s July 9thbroadcast, which included coverage of President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, was also the most-watched cable news telecast of the month, delivering 5.8 million viewers.

For the month of July, Fox News claimed 7 of the top 10 cable news programs in total viewers. MSNBC claimed the other 3.

Here’s a look at the top 10:

Fox News claimed 6 of the top 10 cable news programs in the key A25-54 demo. MSNBC claimed 3, and CNN’s Cuomo Prime Time snagged the final spot.

Adults 25-54: Hannity (623,000), Tucker Carlson Tonight (524,000), Rachel Maddow Show (511,000), The Ingraham Angle (489,000), The Five (393,000), Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell (386,000), The Story with Martha MacCallum (384,000), Special Report with Bret Baier (378,000), Cuomo Prime Time (362,000).

Moving from prime time to the morning – Fox & Friends marked 201 months as the No. 1 cable news program in its timeslot with an average of 1.5 million in total viewers and 301,000 with the 25-54 demo. From 9 – 12 a.m. ET, America’s Newsroom anchored by Sandra Smith and Bill Hemmer delivered 1.6 million in total viewers and 288,000 with A25-54.

FNC’s 12 p.m. ensemble show Outnumbered, garnered 1.6 million in total viewers and 273,000 in the 25-54 category. Outnumbered Overtime anchored by Harris Faulkner delivered 1.4 million in total viewers and 255,000 with A25-54 while The Daily Briefing with Dana Perino averaged 1.4 million in total viewers and 241,000 in the 25-54 demo. During the 3 p.m. ET hour, Shepard Smith Reporting averaged 1.3 million viewers and 236,000 with A25-54. Your World with Neil Cavuto at 4 p.m. ET delivered 1.4 million viewers and averaged 257,000 with A25-54.

At 1 p.m. – Fox News @ Night with Shannon Bream defeated MSNBC’s The 11th Hour with Brian Williams in A25-54 (330,000 vs. 288,000), but Williams delivered more total viewers than Bream (1,561,000 vs. 1,505,000).

Well let's see.

Maddow was #1 in the 25-54 demo on 7/18, #1 across the board on 7/18, #1 across the board on 7/20, and #1 in the 25-54 demo on 7/23 just to name a few of those nights.

Also if you look at the actually number even on a lot of the nights Hannity beats Maddow its only by a few thousand viewers.

And that is really significant for a few reasons. One is Fox has the distinct advantage of drawing almost every conservative in the country while MSNBC and CNN tend to split everyone else. And it was not too long ago when Fox routinely had more viewers than MSNBC and CNN combined. But not anymore.

And also because Trump does everything he possibly can to keep pumping Hannity's ratings out from telling people to watch his show to giving him multiple interviews. And Maddow is still breathing down his neck inspite of all that.

MSNBC conservative warns Trump he needs to resign now and get immediate Pence pardon after ‘collusion tweet’

An MSNBC panel was positively stunned by a tweet from Donald Trump on Sunday morning, where the president admitted his oldest son and other campaign officials met with Russians in an attempt to seek dirt on former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Sunday morning Trump contradicted previous White House explainations that Donald Trump Jr.’s 2016 meeting in Trump Tower was about orphans, with the president writing, “Fake News reporting, a complete fabrication, that I am concerned about the meeting my wonderful son, Donald, had in Trump Tower. This was a meeting to get information on an opponent.”

With the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) maintaining that presidents can’t be prosecuted while still in office, conservative columnist Jennifer Rubin said Trump’s collusion admission could mean he’ll be at risk of jail time after leaving office.

“I’d like to remind Mr. Trump that that ruling only says you can’t be prosecuted while in office,” Rubin explained. “So before he goes out the door, maybe he wants to resign the presidency and has Vice President Pence pardon him because he’s going to be prosecutable as soon as he leaves office.”

“He needs to put a pin in that,” she added.

GOP strategist Rick Wilson on Monday got bleeped out on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” during a profanity-laden tirade against the Republican Party.

During the interview, which Wilson used to promote his new book called “Everything Trump Touches Dies,” there was a large section of total silence that turned out to be Wilson employing not-safe-for-work language to describe the current state of the GOP.

Writing on Twitter after the segment, Wilson revealed what he said that ran afoul of the censors.

“Washington is full of profiles in chickensh*t,” Wilson said to co-host Joe Scarborough. “You and I both get calls from members of Congress who say I can’t stand this assh*le.”

“Are you saying that on TV?” co-host Mika Brzezinski asked Wilson after the sound kicked back in.

“I wasn’t trying to,” said a smiling Wilson. “These guys call us and they express this unbelievable, this disgust with Trump. They’re not all bought into this.”

“Hey Rick, you owe me a dinner,” Scarborough jokingly told Wilson. “We’ve been forced to implement a seven-second delay.”

Maddow obtains secret tapes of Devin Nunes revealing GOP plans for Rosenstein’s impeachment or ‘all of this goes away

MSNBC host Rachel Maddow obtained a tape of Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) at a private fundraiser for Cathy McMorris Rodgers

In the first clip, Nunes confesses that he’s often embarrassed by Trump, particularly his tweets.

“Sometimes we cringe on the president’s tweets,” Nunes said at the event.

In the second clip, Nunes is heard saying that if there was someone that was an American citizen or a political campaign got secrets from a foreign government, “it would be a very bad thing.” He described a scenario where Rodgers may have scored stolen emails that she chose to release.

“Well, if that’s the case, then that’s criminal,” he said.

“With federal prosecutors now claiming in a federal indictment Wikileaks and D.C. Leaks and Guccifer 2.0 were the means by which stolen e-mails were disseminated during the presidential election and lots of still accruing evidence people associated with the Trump campaign and the president’s family and the president himself helped in that dissemination during the campaign, it cannot help that the lead opponent of the Russia investigation privately concedes when he thinks nobody is recording him that sort of activity, if proven, that would definitely be criminal,” Maddow explained.

This after Nunes has spent over a year being “acrobatic in his contortion in making the Russia scandal go away,” Maddow said.

In response to a question from the audience about deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein, Rodgers interjects and says that there is a plan in place from the Republicans to impeach Rosenstein.

“It’s a bit complicated, right?” Nunses is heard saying. “I say that because you have to we only have so many months left, right. So if we actually vote to impeach, okay, what that does is that triggers the Senate then has to take it up. Well, and you have to decide what you want right now because the Senate only has so much time. Do you want it to drop everything and not confirm the Supreme Court justice, the new Supreme Court justice?”

He goes on to say Rosenstein deserves to be impeached.

“I don’t think you will get any argument from most of our colleagues. The question is the timing of it right before the election,” he continued.

Getting rid of Rosenstein is how Congressional Republicans can stop the Mueller investigation.

The final segment Maddow pulled from the tape was about how Nunes views his role in Congress and keeping the majority in Congress.

“So therein lies, so it’s like your classic catch-22 situation, where we were at a — this puts us in such a tough spot,” Nunes says. “If [Jeff] Sessions won’t unrecuse, Mueller won’t clear the president, we’re the only ones, which is really the danger. That’s why I keep — thank you for saying that, by the way — we have to keep all these, we have to keep the majority. We do not keep the majority, all of this goes away.”

If Sessions won’t unrecuse and Mueller won’t clear the president, we’re the only ones. Which is really the danger. That’s why I keep, and thank you for saying it by the way, I mean we have to keep all these seats. We have to keep the majority. If we do not keep the majority, all of this goes away.”

REP. NUNES (R-CA): “They know it’s ridiculous to go after the president for obstruction of justice. And aside from showing how they plan to obstruct justice and try to end the Mueller investigaton is the way they just stand there flat footed and lie through their teeth to the donors. There is not a reason in the world they couldn't vote to impeach Rosenstein right now. And send it to the Senate and the Senate can take it up anytime they want including after they get their ringer on the supreme court. Which shows just how gullible Republicans are.

Morning Joe warns Trump’s ‘dog’ slur against Omarosa is right out of the Nazi playbook

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough sounded the alarm over President Donald Trump’s pattern of comparing black and Hispanic people to animals, as he did Tuesday morning when he slurred a former aide.

Trump attacked former “Apprentice” contestant Omarosa Manigault-Newman as “that dog” as she promotes a new tell-all book about her time serving in the White House, and Scarborough said the president’s language had a dangerous precedent.

“We’ve heard it said before and we’ve heard it discussed before about how tyrants and autocrats and, yes, fascists, communists (and) others used the language of dehumanization to justify, well, a movement away from democracy and a movement away from decent standards,” Scarborough said.

He compared Trump’s racist slurs to dehumanizing language used to justify slavery and genocide.

“During the Holocaust Nazis referred to Jews as rats,” Scarborough said. “In Rwanda genocide was often justified, calling them cockroaches, slave owners considered slaves subhuman animals.”

“It opens the door for cruelty and genocide,” he continued. “Nobody is saying that Donald Trump is a Nazi, nobody is saying that he’s Adolf Hitler in 1938, 1939, 1940, but you can see time and time again … this is how dictators and tyrants open the door, and they do it by dehumanizing their political opponents.”

Trump’s dehumanizing language had been translated into cruel actions, such as his administration’s family separation policy.

“Guess what led up to his, what I think many would think is savage, behavior on the border?” Scarborough said. “When he launched his campaign he talked about Mexicans being racists.”“Just this past year, what did he call Hispanics?” he added. “He called Hispanics breeders, like they were animals, like they were dogs, like they were mules. We’ve seen it time and time again. So he uses that language, and what does it move to? It moves to a policy where infants are ripped from their mother’s breasts at the border, separated and possibly orphaned for life. There actually is precedent here.”

MSNBC Trounces Fox News in Ratings on Manafort-Cohen Day, Knocking Hannity to Third

On Tuesday’s big news day, following a plea deal for former Trump attorney Michael Cohen and a conviction for former Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort, the ratings crown went to MSNBC during prime time.

According to Nielsen, The Rachel Maddow Show and The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell took the top spots in all of cable Tuesday night, with Maddow pulling 3.893 million in total viewers and O’Donnell at 3.339 million total viewers.

That put typical ratings king Hannity in the number three spot, with 3.259 million.

Rachel Maddow was #1 across all cable viewers as well as top in the demo at 881,000. MSNBC notes that makes last night’s broadcast her second highest rated in total viewers in her show history.

Overall, MSNBC cleaned up on Tuesday night. The network was number one in primetime (8-11pm) in both A25-54 at 709,000, and in total viewers at 3.296 million. From 9pm-3am, each hour of programming came out number one in total viewers.

In the demo, CNN came in second at 639,000 viewers, and Fox third with 613,000 in primetime.

It was one of the biggest news days of the year, and for MSNBC, it was one of their biggest ratings days, and a win over the competition.

‘It’s your funeral’: MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow uncovers a bizarre twist in Paul Manafort’s trials

While digging through newly-unsealed documents from the beginning of Paul Manafort‘s trial, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow found a bizarre interaction that may lead to further charges for the former Trump campaign chairman.

On February 14, 2018, the judge in Manafort’s Washington, D.C. trial questioned defense attorneys after they were offered to drop one of the two trials. The case is the second trial of the two, the first being in Virginia.

Instead of choosing one venue over the other, the defense said Manafort wants to sit both trials.

“I understand you’re hamstrung,” the judge told the defense. “Is there any change in Mr. Manafort’s point of view about the Eastern District [of Virginia] versus the District [of Columbia]?”

“I think the only thing I can imagine that’s more unusual than the government offering that you that choice — is the choice you’re making,” the judge continued. “But is there any further discussion about that?”

Manafort’s defense attorney replied that no, there was no more discussion, and the judge accepted it — but the interaction showed that even the judge was confused, Maddow noted.

“Are you sure you want your client to go on trial twice?” the host said, mimicking the judge’s point of view. “You want two federal felony trials?”

The government gave the defense “the option to just go on trial once,” but they chose not to take them up, Maddow continued.

“The judge is like, ‘OK, it’s your funeral,'” she joked.

Morning Joe Posts Highest Ratings Week Ever As MSNBC Dominates During Trump Woes

MSNBC’s Morning Joe posted their highest ratings ever last week amid multiple Trump administration crises. The show’s high mark comes as part of a big week for the network, which won the ratings for all of prime time, according to Nielsen.

In weekday prime, the network was number one among total viewers, topping Fox News (at #2) and CNN (at #4). In the demographic (24-54) their weekday prime programming was #4 across all of cable, beating both Fox and CNN.

In daytime, (9am-5pm), MSNBC beat out CNN, and in early morning, flagship Morning Joe (from 6-9am) had the most watched week ever, averaging 1.27 million viewers (beating CNN’s 599,000, but not FNC’s Fox & Friends).

The Rachel Maddow Show was number one across all cable viewers with 3.32 million, beating out top dog (and winner of the month) Hannity, which came in at 2.99 million. Maddow was also top in the demo for her time slot, averaging 677,000 A2-554 viewers. Fox came in at 565,000 and CNN at 501,000 in the demo for the same hour.

For the month, Hannity still tops Maddow overall, at 3,079,000 to 2,882,000, marking a consecutive fifth month at the top. Fox took the month overall, marking their incredible 200th month in row as the most watched network in both primetime and total day. (Although Maddow won the month in the demo across cable news in her time slot, averaging 557,000 viewers.)

Nevertheless, a clear ratings win for MSNBC last week, and in particular for Morning Joe. It seems that when Trump has a very bad week, MSNBC has a very good one.

NBC News president Noah Oppenheim killed Ronan Farrow's Harvey Weinstein expose to protect his Hollywood ambitions, report says

NBC News let a Pulitzer Prize and the biggest story of 2017 slip away because honchos at the Peacock network didn't want it to see the light of day, a former NBC News producer told the Daily Beast.

In the web site's bombshell report Thursday, NBC News producer Rich McHugh, who was working with Ronan Farrow on the reporter's investigation of alleged sexual misconduct by Weinstein, claimed that an order to stop pursuing the scathing story came from "the very highest levels at NBC."

McHugh, who left the network's investigative unit earlier this month, told Fox News the order came as he and Farrow were preparing to travel to Los Angeles to interview a woman "with a credible allegation of rape" against the now-disgraced movie producer.

"I was told not to do the interview and ordered to stand down, thus effectively killing the story," McHugh said. "That was unethical, and a massive breach of journalistic integrity.

"Is there anyone in the journalistic community who actually believes NBC didn’t breach its journalistic duty to continue reporting this story?" McHugh added. "Something else must have been going on."

The network told Fox News in a statement Thursday, "The assertion that NBC News tried to kill the Weinstein story while Ronan Farrow was at NBC News, or even more ludicrously after he left NBC News, is an outright lie."

But according to The Daily Beast, it was NBC News president Noah Oppenheim who made the decision to nix Farrow's piece. The exec reportedly didn’t want to upset a Hollywood powerhouse such as Weinstein when he had ambitions of returning to the movie industry.

Farrow and McHugh reportedly pitched the story investigating Hollywood's notorious "casting couch" practices in January 2017. The story originally was meant to air around that year's Oscars, which wouldn't have been good for the Hollywood-friendly Oppenheim, the screenwriter of several films including "Jackie," "The Maze Runner," and the first installment of the "Divergent" series.

Insiders told Fox News at the time that NBC executives may have been wary of ruining relationships in Hollywood, and brittle from years of bad publicity and tabloid covers about its own stars’ behavior and personal lives.

NBC denies these issues had anything to do with their decision to kill the Weinstein story. But the network has been scrambling to give a credible explanation for why they sat on an explosive audiotape of a powerful man behaving badly.

It's not just Oppenheim who has connections to the disgraced accused rapist. Back in 2013, Weinstein attended an Obama event at the Martha’s Vineyard home of Comcast CEO Brian Roberts. The Weinstein Company has had TV programs on NBC Universal stations, and Weinstein reportedly begged NBC Universal executive Ron Meyer for support when the harassment allegations began to surface.

Additionally, Oppenheim’s boss, powerful NBC News Chairman Andy Lack, has allowed his subordinate to take heat for quashing the Weinstein story. Oppenheim’s role at NBC is far smaller than that of his counterparts at other networks since so much of NBC’s news operation reports directly to Lack. “He doesn’t do much other than spiking stories,” said an NBC News insider of Oppenheim.

Andrew Lack is NBC's President and Chief Operating Officer. He has come under fire for his reported role in squashing Ronan Farrow's Harvey Weinstein expose.

Farrow ultimately won a Pulitzer Prize for his reports on sexual misconduct by Weinstein and other powerful men, which ultimately saw the light of day as a series of articles in The New Yorker. He left NBC months ago.
