You guys are really missing something if you are not watching MSNBC right now. This is some of best reality TV I have ever seen. They have 25 minutes to a government shutdown. And they already failed a cloture vote to cut off debate (otherwise known as a filibuster) but they are keeping the vote open. McConnell and Schumer are in discussions. And nobody knows what the fuck is going to happen.

Including me. And I thought I knew every thing.

You guys I am a political junky. I watch stuff like this all the time. And no I have never seen anything quite like this. Now a lot of that is because for most of my life we never had the technology and internet where I could watch. But at least since all that has been around I have never seen the Senators in gaggels like this. Three minutes left and the little clusters of Senators just keep getting bigger all the time. They are talking among themselves and then sending like one from each side to communicate with the other side.

I am honestly Mr Jones. Something is happening here but you don't know what it is. Do you Mr Jones?

Embarrassment for NBC News after Lester Holt apparently falls for North Korean propaganda

“NBC Nightly News” anchor Lester Holt appears to have been badly fooled by North Korean propagandists.

NBC News is reeling after “Nightly News” anchor Lester Holt appears to have been badly fooled by North Korean propagandists -- giving a cheery report from a ski resort in the Hermit Kingdom that looked to be bustling when it was widely known to actually be a ghost town.

Holt -- who returned early from North Korea after scathing reviews -- reported for “Nightly News” from the Masikryong ski resort on Monday, a facility that is the brainchild of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un and is typically empty. The resort, built to create the appearance of a prosperous nation, was largely deserted during peak 2017 ski season, according to multiple reports.

But for Holt’s appearance, the North Korean government appears to have brought in skiers — wearing identical outfits — and staged the scene, something Holt did not appear to realize.
The resort is a “source of immense pride for a country trying to present a new and modern face to the world,” Holt said during his report.

NBC News did not respond to requests for comment as to whether Holt’s unexpectedly early departure from North Korea was related to the embarrassing ski resort snafu. But inside 30 Rockefeller Plaza, NBC’s more seasoned journalists were cringing.

“Who produced this garbage?” asked an NBC insider. “It is field producing 101 -- don’t do a standup somewhere that’s been staged by a dictatorial regime.”

Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un famously rode the ski lift, without skies, when touting his resort.

Holt’s coverage was overseen by embattled NBC News President Noah Oppenheim, who traveled with Holt and a camera crew to North Korea weeks before the Peacock Network will cover the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea. Now Holt's credulous reporting has cast a cloud over the network’s ability to accurately portray the Korean peninsula going into the Olympics.

Critics near and far slammed Holt’s coverage as being sycophantic, decidedly uncritical and feeding "propaganda."

President Trump's nominee for U.S. Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell even took to Twitter to offer some advice for the NBC News star.

"Pro tip for @LesterHoltNBC: when everyone is wearing matching jackets it is a staged event,” Grenell wrote.

“It's been reported that the state-of-the-art resort cost the Kim regime $35 million to build, even with slave labor, while most of the country starved,” the Daily Mail wrote. “It is a bizarre thing to prioritize in an impoverished nation with a ramshackle infrastructure where around 40 percent of its people are undernourished.”

The New York Post accused Holt of “shilling” for the dictatorship.

The Masikryong ski resort is reportedly far too expensive for locals.

"Yes, NBC is eager to promote next month’s Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. But that hardly required anyone to travel north of the DMZ to film propaganda for a regime that enslaves 25 million people — and holds another 50 million southerners as quasi-hostages, under constant (if low-grade) threat of war,” an editorial said.

And if Holt was fooled by the North Korean regime, his viewers were not, savaging the anchor.

Ironically, a 2017 report by NBC showed North Korean citizens, including children, tasked with clearing the snow on the roads near the resort with “makeshift wooden shovels.” No salt was scattered on the streets and snowplows were nowhere in sight, the report said.

Despite its glamorous appearance, the Masikryong Ski Resort reportedly has mostly been a “ghost town” since its opening.

The planning and production of Holt’s trip has caused growing consternation within NBC News. Insiders told Fox News that Oppenheim, who lacks experience as a field producer, pulled rank to go on the trip. He also traveled in June to Russia with Megyn Kelly to produce her much-panned interview with Vladimir Putin where, like Holt, she was also accused of going soft on a dictator.

“He’s researching his next screenplay,” an NBC staffer said of Oppenheim, who moonlights as a Hollywood screenwriter. “At our expense.”

NBC has paid nearly $1 billion for U.S. broadcast rights to the South Korea-hosted Winter Olympics next month, and the network -- famous for presenting a relentlessly cheery view of the games -- has been criticized in the past for whitewashing controversies from host countries and regions.

In 2008, NBC was slammed for treating China’s human rights record with kid gloves during the Beijing Olympics, and even went so far as to change the name of the Italian city Turin, host of the 2006 Olympics, to “Torino” because, it was reportedly more exotic sounding. Ahead of the upcoming Winter Olympics, Pyeongchang began going by the spelling PyeongChang -- with a capital C -- to avoid association with North Korea's capital of Pyongyang.

As for Holt, the North Korean trip is his biggest debacle since he hosted the first presidential debate in September of 2016, when he was widely criticized for anti-Trump bias, so much so that "NBC Nightly News" dropped sharply in the ratings when compared to arch-rival ABC, and has yet to recover.

NBC denies lawsuit claims that 'Tonight Show' crew members were fired over race discrimination

Two cameramen who previously worked on NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” are suing the network over claims NBC racially discriminated against them when the employees were fired over an inappropriate text message.

Kurt Decker and Michael Cimino filed a suit against the network claiming the leader of Fallon’s “Tonight Show” band The Roots, Questlove, had them fired because they were white, while another person involved, who is black, was allowed to stay, according to TMZ.

The Blast, which first reported the news, noted the two were working as camera operators on June 19, 2017 when they received an “unsolicited racist and misogynist text message from a ‘Tonight Show’ stagehand.”

In court documents, they reportedly said a third person, The Roots bassist Mark Kelley, also received the message. They claimed they did not respond to the message and later reported it to both The Roots' manager and a technical production manager at NBC. However, Decker and Cimino said they immediately got suspended.

They reportedly took issue with the fact that Kelley, who is African-American, did not appear to recieve any disciplinary action.

Per their claim, the duo said Questlove then pressured the network to fire those involved while allegedly making sure Kelley received no discipline. Now they’ve suied the network alleging that the decision to fire them was discriminatory based on race and that they had a combined 40 years of “spotless performance.”

However, NBC is denying that it received pressure from Questlove on the matter.

“NBC is committed to providing a work environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity,” an NBC spokesperson told Fox News in a statement. “We have strong policies in place that protect against discrimination in any form. The decision about these plaintiffs was the company’s alone.”

If you support the electoral college, please explain why? Times were very different when the founding fathers came up with the idea. One of the problems get were fighting is how slow information actually traveled to the masses, those that didn't know how to read were basically excluded from knowing about their candidates other than what they were told. Today, we still suffer from the "what they were told" part, but for very different reasons.

Rachel Maddow connected some incredibly important dots last night that really need to be investigated. She went back to an interview several months ago of Carter Page by MSNBC's Chris Hayes where Page said something that made no sense at the time about a FISA warrant and Paul Ryan clearing him. Which seemed like just nonsense at the time.

But it makes perfect sense now because what Page said has actually happened. Ryan, Devin Nunes, and other Republicans have attacked the FISA warrant and tried to clear both Page and Trump in their fraudulent memo. Which proves they have been planning this conspiracy for a long time, feeding classified information to Page, and Ryan is behind all of it.

And that really needs to be fully investigated by Mueller and the FBI.

In other words, a Republican candidate can't win a majority of the vote any more. :p

I guess there are not enough grouchy, grumpy, old, angry white men to win it for the GOP any more. In the United States the political situation improves one funeral at a time.

Not only do young people prefer the Democrats, so do non whites, Jews, and those with graduate degrees. No wonder Trump loves the poorly educated. :smug:
