  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

Nice! Looks like Seymour Duncan's on the epi too. I use the alnico and jazz models on my ES and les pauls... the tone is amazing!

I was just wondering about the decals you have around the volume pots on the epi. They look pretty cool but I can't see them properly in the picture.

Guitars are not like violins. They don't age well. The neck is too long and warps too easily. Rare to see old guitars reach six figure prices in auctions, no matter who played them, because by and large instruments over 30 years old play terribly.

There are exceptions of course. Very rare exceptions, for instruments played by mega stars, which are bought to be hung on walls behind glass.

Unlike a Stradivarius, which plays better now than when it was made, and typically costs upwards of ten million.

A guitar given to Elvis Presley by his father in 1969 sold for $334,000 (£230,000) in New York during an auction --

Vernon Presley is said to have changed the finish of the Gibson Dove acoustic guitar to ebony after his son earned his black belt in karate.

It beat auction house Julien's estimate of $200,000 to $300,000 for Saturday's sale.

    Yep. The King.

A few have gone for big bucks, relatively speaking. But not many. And never in the millions. The Presley guitar-- imagine if it was actually playable!

Another problem with guitars is that they handle the elements so poorly that touring bands use them by the dozens-- and sometimes even more than that. A world-touring stadium performer like Eddie Van Halen would have had so many that most would be essentially worthless. Although... I do seem to recall that a Van Halen guitar went for big money in a sale. I think there might have been something special about it. One of the first ones he duct taped, when he was still clubbing in LA, or something like that.

If you zoom the pic in Photoshop you'll see that the decals say "This one goes to 11."

BTW, I've posted thrice on this thread and never said it: RIP Les Paul, Musician, Genius, and King Maker.

    BULLSHIT ...

If you know anything about musical instruments one can work around "warpage" by taking care of them and releasing the tension on the bolt and strings while in storage.

If they do warp which isn't common in quality equipment you can retention the neck and rework the intonation to adjust for minor deficiencies that one may develop over the years.

Guitars are precision instruments that get better with age in most cases if shown the respect they deserve so stfu and stick to your little home business and leave things like this to those in the know stupid.

I have over 15 classic guitars including collector versions from musicians over the years and not one plays poorly.

    Uh huh. Ok.

How would you know if your air guitar fantasies play poorly? You with your repetoire of two and a half bar chords?

    Seriously, though:

Yeah. You can take a vintage electric guitar from the 50's, and you can bang out the bar chords for Freebird. More or less. But that doesn't mean it is playable.

If you've spent $10,000 or more on an ORIGINAL, the best way to know you've gotten your money's worth is if you can't ring a single harmonic on the fretboard. Much less finger pick Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring. That's because ORIGINAL means it was never refretted. To make it playable, you must refret it, which also means it is no longer ORIGINAL.

And 60 years is NOTHING, as compared to violins, which are hundeds of years old and improve with age.

ORIGINAL vintage guitars are not playable. They hang on walls.

And CLASSICAL guitars (anything over a hundred years old, which rules out all electric) are museum pieces. Worthless for music. They are valued for craftsmanship, age and maker. Just like furniture. Not for playability. Because they're not.
