  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    StanleyOG.

Recently on TV I have been seeing many commercials from Time Warner about the evils of Net Neutrality, and how it is dangerous to consumers, etc... Now, I had never heard the term, and I looked it up. What I found infuriates me to no end. Net Neutrality is our very freedom on the Internet. Large corporations are trying to take control for thier own monetary gains, and basically taking away all freedom on the web. I'll provide a link with FAQs about it so you can read about it yourself. What do you think?

I think this is bullshit... The internet is the one place we have total free speech with no reprecusions... and that may disappear soon... And people wonder why I am moving to Australia in a few years.

I think that it says something that the only people who favor doing away with net neutrality are the broadband suppliers themselves. Of course, because of net neutrality they can afford to pay the lobbyists to convince the congress to end it so they will maintain their top positions.

It's merely the last frontier of the corporate takeover of the U.S. I may join you on that flight to Australia, although I may opt for Switzerland instead.

There is no such thing as "loosing limited freedoms".......If we tolerate any loss of freedoms, no matter the size, than we will eventually lose all of them. And please , don't be so naive to think it's a vast right wing or a suspicious left wing conspiracy. It's the rich, corporate, all inclusive monsters that control everything that are the conspirators. Don't beleieve it? Look who turned up pals 'till the end.Bush sr ansd Bubba Clinton. Lookin like a couple of ass suckin' good ol boy's 2 me. :?:

OK you can flame me for dragging up such an old issue, and the answer I'm looking for has probably already been posted and I just didn't find it, but can anyone tell me where this issue stands right now? Did congress pass any legislation? Is there still a drive to secure Net Neutrality?

There is great presure for new legislation,, BUT as I see or understand is that it has been put off untill January 2007.

I cannot remember who.. but on a perfious thead that I did and can't even think of thename.... a a post was made that had the full world wide scoop, and about a meeting coming up..

    Moyer on America http://www.pbs.org?moyers/moyersonamerica/net/index.html

A whole series of articles gave a pertty good picture.. The biggest thing is media consolidation. The bellsouth and AT&T merger, is the most dangerious. And I also am under the opinion that that was held off till Jan 07. They were given the go ahead, then stopped in court..

I have a meeting with a client that is moving his business to the area, and have to spend some time with them.

As soon as I can, I will post a link to a site that has all the media's listed and if they are with a group of other medias...

Oh yes another quirk that I have found maybe true... If you operate you internet with a modium. You fall under another class. does comcast use a modium? I use a modium on Bellsouth DSL. Can't dig it out right now.. later today.... This thread... and thanks for keeping it going it is the most important thing in our lives ..... the last of free speach..

You need to study the Austrailian government and laws, it might not be so appealing... The USA and Austrailina free trade agreement has made things worse for both our contries,, but great for the rich..

It is so hard to get anything out of Washington right now.. The committees are not fully set yet, and offices are being fought over.. Trying to get staff in place.. etc... Finally got one call through,, and this senator did not know, but he will get me the committee members in a day or two.. He thinks it falls back on the FCC. He was pretty sure that it was put off till after the first of the year,, bush is trying to get other things taken care of while he has a majority...
He did say that it was a battle from the communication giants trying to get the restrictions lifted for them.....
ISOC has some meetings ( Internet SOCiety) San Diego Ca 2-28 to 3-1. I am beginning to see this in another light.. The media giants are shining a even bigger light.. and the Government is seeking more control..

My friend told me that congress can't legislate the internet.. But that was the end of today's conversation..
The internet Society has been in control since 1992. membership is from companys, individual, governments, and foundations. It has a board of trustees, and they are elected by it's membership around the world..

I am going to try to get the calendar for the FCC hearings.. It is susposed to be set by next monday...

Thanks some more TR. When it comes to the Internet I'm still using a backhoe to spade the garden with but just what I've seen, found, learned, forumed and fondled myself with so far makes it seem like it could really be a great hope for a better world.

However, if I get out of here it's going to be to Amesterdam. But not for the internet access.
