I never was much of a Maiden fan but they have some decent stuff. Queen is coming here next month and I am looking forward to that. The last time I saw them with Freddie was back in the 70's. Adam Lambert will front them on this tour.

First off this is FAR from an insult but I am really stating to believe that you may well be our military dude here lol. Regardless, I WILL NOT be "that guy" to question his motives and will continue to respect what he and so many others around the world including Canada do to keep us safe ...

You love everything I hate about the USA and I still get a kick that some think he and I are one in the same because I do soooooo love to prop up the USA and pledge my allegiance to it LMFAO ...

Oh ya, well done to the Canadian soldier on a new world record and the Maple Leaf flies proudly still and forever more ...

Man wanted on Canada-wide warrant for impersonating police officer, sexual assault
Days after police in the Greater Toronto Area said they were looking for a man who they say posed as an officer and sexually assaulted a woman, a Canada-wide warrant has been issued for a 33-year-old B.C. suspect.

York Regional Police said investigators believe the suspect may have committed similar offenses in other provinces.

Police said that on June 8 at around 8 p.m., a man met an 18-year-old female escort after making arrangements to meet at a hotel near Interchange Way and Highway 7, near Highways 400 and 407.

READ MORE: Ontario police allege man posed as officer before sexually assaulting woman; similar incidents reported in Calgary

Investigators said the man told the woman he was a police officer and showed what he called a warrant before he allegedly sexually assaulted her. The man later drove away after taking an undisclosed amount of money.

Police described the man as being between 28- and 35-years-old, six feet tall and having a thin build, brown eyes and long, black wavy hair.

Last week Calgary police released photos of a man they believe has been impersonating an officer in order to rob women after contacting them online.

A York Regional Police spokesman told Global News on Monday the suspect seen in photos released by both police services looks similar and appears to be wearing the same hat.

Police said Asif Choudhry, who is also known as Brandon, of Sechelt, B.C., is wanted for sexual assault with a firearm, forcible confinement, robbery with a firearm and impersonation of a police officer.

Officers said Choudhry should be considered armed and dangerous.

If he is found, residents are being encouraged to immediately call 911. Anyone with information about the incidents is being asked to call York Regional Police at 1-866-876-5423 ext. 6800 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.

Check out this WTF moment ... The Health Minister is the representative in my Ward and is a no nonsense gal.

Alberta Health Services employee suspended for texting racial slur to Indigenous woman
'This is totally unacceptable and there will be consequences,' says Alberta Health Minister Sarah Hoffman

An Alberta Health Services employee has been suspended after using a racial slur to refer to a Kainai Board of Education school principal in a text message.

The text sent by the employee on Monday refers to another AHS worker apparently being disciplined during a training event in southern Alberta, but was accidentally sent to the school principal.

The text called her "rabid," while also using an offensive racial slur for an Indigenous woman. (She called her a Squaw, I will post since they won't)

The messages were written about — and accidentally sent to — Ramona Big Head, the principal of Tatsikiisaapo'p Middle School, located southwest of Lethbridge.

"Think of that image for a second," Big Head said Thursday. "This description brings to mind an animal, such as a dog, frothing at the mouth, dangerous, vicious, mad, who ultimately needs to be put down."

A survivor of the residential school program, Big Head said she has worked hard throughout her career to end what she calls "the cycle of despair."

After going back to school at the age of 24 — having had seven children by the age of 22, her first at 15 — Big Head completed her bachelor of arts and bachelor of education by age 30.

She taught at Kainai High School, also southwest of Lethbridge, for 14 years, earning her master of education during that time. She is now a PhD candidate at the University of British Columbia.

"I share my personal story with you to show that if [the now-suspended AHS employee] and many others who share the same dark, racist thoughts as her, had taken the time to have a conversation with me, and begin to build a positive relationship based on mutual respect, then maybe, just maybe, she would have thought twice before she referred to me as [the racial slur]."

    Health minister angered
Health Minister Sarah Hoffman issued a statement Thursday, saying she has met with Kainai Chief Roy Fox and Indigenous Relations Minister Richard Feehan about the incident.

"I am angry and disappointed that a public employee would use such hateful and racist language," the statement read. "This is totally unacceptable and there will be consequences."

A statement from Dr. Verna Yiu, president and CEO of AHS, offered an apology to all Kainai members.

"Any use of racist language is completely unacceptable and we have contacted the Kainai Nation to offer our most sincere apology to the nation and to the Kainai employee in question," she said in a statement. "We have taken immediate action to investigate what happened. An employee has been put on administrative leave effective today."

    Oops ...

'I'm a little embarrassed': Justin Trudeau forgets Alberta in Canada Day speech
'I got excited somewhere over the Rockies,' he says after giving shout-out to other provinces, territories

    Save the best for last?

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau gave a shoutout to every province and territory during Canada Day celebrations on Parliament Hill Saturday, except for one of them: Alberta.

"We may be of every colour and creed, from every corner of the world," Trudeau said.

"We may live in British Columbia, Yukon, the Northwest Territories, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Nunavut, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia or Newfoundland and Labrador. But we embrace that diversity while knowing in our hearts that we are all Canadians."

Alberta was included in his prepared text, but didn't make the delivery in front of thousands of spectators at the Canada 150 celebration in Ottawa.

Canadian actress Sandra Oh, who co-hosted the event, made note of the mistake after Trudeau left the stage.

A short time later, before introducing Canada's two new astronauts, Trudeau tried to make right with the province that slipped his mind.

"Let me just start by saying I'm a little embarrassed, I got excited somewhere over the Rockies," he said.

"Alberta, I love you. Happy Canada Day."

He followed up with an apologetic tweet later in the afternoon.

Some, like Alberta Wildrose Leader Brian Jean, weren't quick to let the prime minister live down the lapse.

Trudeau's speech celebrated Canada's diversity and values, but also acknowledged its failures — particularly in its oppression of Indigenous people.

He acknowledged Canada's history spans much longer than 150 years, and said reconciliation is a journey that will demand dedication and hard work from Canadians.

"As a society, we must therefore recognize past mistakes, accept our responsibilities and take action to ensure that each and every Canadian has a bright future," he said.

"It is a choice we make, not because of what we did, or what we were, but because of who we are."

It was an honest mistake and should be taken exactly as that so don't make a rocky mountain out of a molehill LOL. :D:eek::rolleyes:

Ottawa to offer Omar Khadr apology, $10-million in compensation

The Trudeau government is poised to offer an apology and a $10-million compensation package to former child soldier Omar Khadr for abuses he suffered while detained in the U.S. military prison for captured and suspected terrorists at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

The Supreme Court of Canada ruled in 2010 that the actions of federal officials who participated in U.S. interrogations of Mr. Khadr had offended “the most basic Canadian standards about the treatment of detained youth suspects.”

The court said the action of the Canadian government had violated the former child soldier’s rights under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and deprived him of fundamental principles of justice.

A federal insider said the announcement of an official apology and compensation is expected this week.

Mr. Khadr’s lawyer, Dennis Edney, has been seeking a formal apology from the United States and from the Trudeau government for the alleged abuse and neglect of Mr. Khadr while he was in the prison. Attempts to reach Mr. Edney for comment on Monday were unsuccessful.

The apology and compensation is similar to the $10.5-million that Ottawa gave Syrian-born Canadian Maher Arar after a 2006 judicial inquiry found Canadian officials had passed on information about him to U.S. national-security authorities, leading to his torture and imprisonment in Syria.

Mr. Khadr was captured in Afghanistan at the age of 15 in 2002, following a shootout with U.S. troops where he was badly wounded – blinded by shrapnel in one eye and with fist-sized exit wounds in his shoulder and chest.

He was accused of throwing a grenade that killed U.S. army medic Christopher Speer in the firefight and was sent to the U.S. detention facility in Guantanamo Bay.

Mr. Khadr, now 30, spent more than 10 years in U.S. and Canadian custody, much of that time in the Guantanamo Bay detention centre. Once the youngest detainee in Guantanamo, he was transferred to Canada in 2012 after accepting a plea deal.

Mr. Edney has said his client was treated abysmally even though he was a child soldier and his body shattered from wounds. U.S. interrogators subjected him to sleep deprivation and solitary confinement.

Mr. Edney said Mr. Khadr was coerced into fighting by his father, Ahmed Said Khadr – a top al-Qaeda operative until he was killed in a gunfight with Pakistani troops in 2003.

In March, Mr. Khadr underwent a 19-hour operation in an Edmonton hospital to repair his shoulder, which was severely damaged during the firefight with U.S soldiers.

“Nobody advocated for his health whatsoever. Even when he came back to Canada, I raised all those issues with the Correctional Services and of course [former prime minister Stephen] Harper was not interested in hearing anything like that,” Mr. Edney said in an interview last March.

Mr. Khadr was freed on bail in May, 2015, and released under the supervision of Mr. Edney.

He said he would “prove to [Canadians] that I’m a good person.”

The International Civil Liberties Monitoring Group and Lawyer’s Rights Watch Canada have concluded that Canada contravened its obligations under the Conventions against Torture by failing to prevent and investigate what happened to Mr. Khadr in Guantanamo Bay.

Last March, Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale issued an apology and compensation package to three Muslim Canadian men – Abdullah Almalki, Ahmad Abou-Elmatti and Muayyed Nureddin. They had been tortured and held for months in Syria and Egypt, suspected of links to terrorism.

A decade ago, they each filed $100-million lawsuits against Ottawa but halted their legal proceedings to allow former Supreme Court justice Frank Iacobucci to conduct an internal inquiry. Mr. Iacobucci ruled in 2008 that Canadian officials were indirectly responsible for their torture.

Glad to see our neighbors to the north financially rewarding Canadian citizens caught fighting for radical Muslims against US military.

I did find it amusing that his attorney asked for an apology from the US. We'll get right on that apology. :joyful:

So is Tupac a terrorist because his father was a Black Panther ???

The kid was defending himself against aggression but what he did was bad. You do and say the shit you do here because of what you learned from your dad so don't fault a kid for not knowing any better. He has since proven he is NO threat to anyone and considering he lives in the same city as I do, if I perceived him as a threat he would be pushing up daisies already ...

    Fucking political correctness huh ???

I think I am going to start a new party and call it the "shut the fuck up and do as I say not as I do" party LMAO. I will ask Trump for his advice since that what his party is called behind closed doors ...

A little tough to get that on a bumper sticker but it has a ring to it !!!

He was an impressionable child at the time when he came under attack and reacted the way any rational person would in a warzone when fight or flight kicked in ... you guys had your go at him and handed him back to Canada where he has turned his life around and made much of himself after being taken from here by his radical father and made a child soldier without full understanding of what was being asked of him.

But this is far from over ...

@shootersa: You guys did have him and then sent him to us because you didn't want to house & feed him anymore after you tried & convicted him.
If anyone should pay him it isn't us but than the same silly arseholes that cried for Hillary were the ones that cried because he was a minor.
I say send him & his family back from whence they came with what they came.

Further to the Omar Khadr story above:

U.S. soldier’s widow filed application to enforce $134M claim weeks before Khadr settlement

The court application requests an emergency injunction to stop the Canadian government from giving Khadr and his lawyers the reported $10.5-million settlement.

An attorney representing the widow of U.S. Delta Force soldier Sgt. Christopher Speer filed a court application to try to enforce a $134-million wrongful death claim against Omar Khadr two weeks before lawyers for the former Guantanamo Bay detainee negotiated a confidential settlement in the case.

Court records show the application to Ontario’s Superior Court of Justice was filed June 8. The 11-page application from lawyers for Tabitha Speer and retired special forces soldier Layne Morris, who was injured in the 2002 firefight where Khadr was shot and captured in Afghanistan, requests an emergency injunction to stop the Canadian government from giving Khadr and his lawyers the reported $10.5-million settlement.

Khadr’s lawyer, John Phillips, said Wednesday that he has not yet seen the legal challenge but confirmed that private mediation with representatives from the Department of Justice took place June 21 and 22. The results of the mediation remain confidential, he said.

Reached in Utah, Morris declined an interview request. His Toronto attorney, David Winer, also said he could not comment on any aspects of the case.
